Boxing superstar and three-time world
champion Sugar Shane Mosley will make his
long-awaited return to the ring Saturday,
February 10 at the Mandalay Bay Events
Center. Looking to defeat Mosley will be
former welterweight champion Luis Collazo,
an exciting, upset-minded boxer eager to
topple the three-division champion. Battle
at the Bay, Mosley vs. Collazo will be
presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Don
King Productions. The fight will air live on
HBO World Championship Boxing at 9:45p EST /
6:45p PST. Tickets to Battle at the Bay,
Mosley vs. Collazo are priced at $300, $200,
$100 and $50 and go on sale Saturday,
January 6 at noon.

Nevada Opera Theatre presents "La Boheme,"
on Sunday, February 11, 2007, 2:00p at The
Artemus Ham Concert Hall. The “La Boheme”
performance will be preceded by “The
Backstage At The Opera”, Saturday
February the 10 at 7p on the main stage at
Ham Hall. The opera company is celebrating
the 2lst season that also includes the Opera
Outreach performances of "Hansel & Gretel"
in the Clark County Elementary Schools in
March 2007; The International Friendship
Luncheon at The Stirling Club, Saturday, May
12, 2007 and the fully staged production of
"The Merry Widow," Saturday, June 9, 2007 at
8:00p at the Artemus Ham Concert Hall. The
"Opera Festival" at MonteLago Village will
take place in September, 2007. Tickets for
“La Boheme” will be on sale beginning
January 2, 2007 at The UNLV Performing Arts

The Rainbow Bar & Grill in Las Vegas will
soon crown the city's the next superstar
band, when the "Rock The Rainbow" local band
competition that began in September comes to
a rockin' finish. The Semi-Final round on
January 18 will feature Fortwentydaze in a
head-to-head battle with The Skooners, while
Slow To Surface will face-off against Broken
End on January 25. The winners of those
rounds will compete for the Final prize on
February 16, and are slated to be judged by
some very recognizable celebrities in the
rock world. The best of the initial 16
competing groups will have their chance at
many great prizes and opportunities,
including a proverbial pot of gold for indie
artists: a professional recording session at
the state of the art Studio At The Palms
(located at The Palms Hotel and Casino), a
showcase for the #1 band (and a shot at a
record deal) with Sony A&R representatives
and a Saturday night spotlight gig at the
famous Whiskey A Go Go on Sunset Strip,
which is located just down the block from
L.A.s Rainbow Bar & Grill.

Kathy Griffin will perform at Mandalay Bay
Theatre Friday, February 23. Show times are
8p and 11p. Tickets are $50 and $70
inclusive. Griffin is known for her role as
Vickie Groener on the NBC sitcom Suddenly
Susan. After joining the famed Los Angeles
Groundlings comedy improvisational troupe,
Griffin began guest starring on hit
television series ER and Seinfeld. In 1998,
Griffin starred in her HBO one-hour special,
A Hot Cup of Talk. Griffin has appeared on
numerous talk shows including Late Night
with David Letterman, and The Tonight Show
with Jay Leno. She hosted the MTV series
Kathys So-Called Reality. In August 2005,
Griffins reality show, Kathy Griffin: My
Life On The D-List, debuted on Bravo.

Tropicana Casino was officially sold this
week and the new owner Columbia Sussex Corp.
spent their $2.75 billion buyout (Aztar
Corp. is the holding company of the
Tropicana). Columbia Sussex Corp. is
expected to spend $2 billion to make the
Tropicana into some 10,224 total rooms with
948 condos.
Tropicana Casino is making the headlines.
Effective Monday, January 8, Pietro's
Gourmet restaurant will be closed
indefinitely.
Mandalay Bay announced that Mamma Mia will
close in the summer of 2008. Speaking of
closings, the famous Commander's Palace fine
dining will be shutting down on January 16,
2007.
Celine Dion will end her 4 1/2 year
performances at Caesars Palace on December
15, 2007.
The construction that you can see at the
corner of Fremont Street and Las Vegas Blvd.
is nothing more than an 85-foot tall pint of
beer. Actually the structure when completed
will look like a full glass of beer with
suds is the attraction outside the soon to
open Hennessey's Tavern.
If you thought McCarran Airport in 2006 was
busy, you are right, final totals for the
year is expected to be above 46 million
visitors for the year. From January 1
through the end of November, which is the
most current total, shows 42.3 million
through McCarran.
And 2007 will bring back the Grand Prix auto
racing to Las Vegas in April. Starting
April 6 and will practice laps and
qualifying and the first race of 2007 for
the Champ car World Series will occur at 1p
on April 8. 2006. The Grand Prix will take
place in around downtown Las Vegas,
