As many of you know, I had a life threatening illness a few years
ago. I have been on the road of recovery ever since and have had a
couple of scares since then. Well, I am happy to say, that both my
M.D. and my naturopathic Dr. last month have said that I am the
healthiest that they have seen me in years. I feel good physically
and I feel good about myself.
Because of the illness, I was unable to do my regular workouts and
therefore I had gained weight. I ended up getting out of the routine
so much, that it was hard to get back into one once I was better. My
doctors told me that I should only do low impact aerobics, not the
strenous workouts that I was used to doing.
After going on many diets, I finally found one that worked for ME,
and as many of you know that was the Medifast diet. I have lost 44
pounds. I still by society standards have 25 lbs to go. However, I
have learned that just because you are thin, doesn't mean you are
healthy or happy. How many of us know thin women who get breast
cancer, or any other cancer, or IBS, or cysts, gallbladder problems,
pneumonia, AIDS, etc. How many of us know thin women who are unhappy
with their lives, career, relationship, their looks, etc? How many
of us know thin women who look ragged, older than they are, etc.?
So, the next time that you see someone who is not
thin by society's standards, may I suggest that you take another
look and realize that she could be very healthy and happy on the
inside. The next time that you look at a thin women and admire and
wish you could be like that, take a minute and ask yourself if you
would really like to be like that if you knew what her life was
really like? Each one of us was given a body that is different than
any other body. We should cherish our different shapes, not wish for
something that is impossible or unhealthy for us.
