On Wednesday, Feb. 7, John Gauntner, the foremost, non-Japanese sake expert, along with Shibuya Sake sommelier Luigi Alberganti will be hosting a private sake tasting at the MGM Grand’s Shibuya. From 10:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m., three premium grades of sake – Junmai, Gingo and Daigingo – will be served, as well as unique appetizers prepared by executive Chef Stephane Chevet and his culinary team. rumjungle is heating up Mondays with “Spoil U Rotten” ladies’ night. From 10 p.m. – 4 a.m. every Monday, with DJ Big Dee, G0-Minor and a live remote from Hot 97.5, ladies are VIPs and drink free. We wanted to give a quick shout-out to Qvegas kingpin Earl Shelton, who will be hosting a special launch party for the February issue of Qvegas magazine. Local favorite DJ Scotty Boy has really been making a name for himself, working hard and hitting the road landing gigs from coast-to-coast. That being said, it’ll be nice to have him back home, even if it’s for a short time. We’ve been telling you for three years now that Las Vegas owns Halloween, now more proof. The International Halloween Costume & Party Show has announced that after 23 years in Chicago, the show will move to Las Vegas in 2008. Also making the move, although it traditionally is held in a separate exhibition center, is the 12th annual National Haunt & Attractions show.

Beginning on Feb. 15 and lasting until March 20, “American Idol” finalist and Hawaiian vocalist Jasmine Trias temporarily will be replacing Lani Misalucha at the Society of Seven. From 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, the public is invited to sample pastries, sweets and chocolates from around the world at a pre-Valentine’s Day tasting at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Las Vegas. The powerful punch, Double Bock, can now be had only as long as the 50 kegs hold out. “Obviously, it is special to get this shipment in now, before the big NFL game,” said Hofbrauhaus LV president Stafan Gastager. “Everyone who loves beer should do themselves a favor and try it before it’s gone.”

A Pure Management Group venue in Los Angeles, huh? Hmmm, sounds interesting, we’ll just have to Watch and see What happens. A more interesting question is Where it might go. Hmm...

Monday, Jan. 29, at JET nightclub is looking to be a super-hot evening. Former Miss Nevada, Katie Rees, is being honored with a special coronation party that is being billed as a “Hail to the Queen” for the former beauty queen who is being anointed Miss JET Las Vegas. Look for Rees to accept a sash and large crown from the JET team. But wait, there’s more, as Rees won’t be the only hottie celebrating a special occasion tonight. Also present will be Eye on Vegas Girl and model Brittany Blasier. The up-and-coming beauty will be celebrating her long-awaited 21st birthday. Happy birthday, BB!
