The Contemporary
Arts Collective is proud to announce its 18th Annual Juried
Show and is asking area artists to submit work for this historic annual
event. Once again, the CAC will award $1,000 to the Best of Show, with
other prizes to be announced. All media is eligible and anyone over 18
years old may submit up to 2 works of art that can fit through the CAC
doors. The CAC in cooperation with LaPour Grand Central will present the
French tradition of an alternative exhibit (a “Salon de Refuse”) on site
at the Holsum Bread Building in gallery #135, which will show work that
is not selected by the juror. The 2000 sq. ft. loft will host the Salon
de Refuse’. There will be artists, music and entertainment on First
Friday, “Ultra Lounge Refuse’ style.
The Juror, Sara
Kellner is a leading advocate for artists and experimental contemporary
art practices. Ms. Kellner was the Director of Houston's alternative
arts center, DIVERSE WORKS from 1999 to 2006, and was a curator for
alternative visual arts at HALLWALLS in Buffalo, N.Y. Her new career as
an independent art consultant, will now be taking her 15 years of
non-profit arts experience to another level.
The CAC has
been a mainstay artists organization in Las Vegas for over 17 years and
has moved from the Arts Factory a few blocks west to join other
galleries in the historic Holsum Bread Building art complex, located at
231 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 110 “Gateway to the Arts District” in
downtown Las Vegas. Now located in Suite 110, the CAC has a larger
facility to present both members art and traveling exhibits. Run by
artists & patrons, membership is open to all, and discounts are
available for artists, seniors and students.
You do not need
to be a member to submit work for this opportunity. Submission fees are
$25.00 members and $35.00 non-members per entry. (Two entries per
person)
The deadline
for delivery of works is Sunday, February 18, noon – 4:00 p.m., and on
February 19 & 20th, from noon – 8:00 p.m.
