Over the last
few years, few have been as committed to the house music scene in
Las Vegas as the House Society Crew. Not only have
DJs Carlos Sanchez and Keith Evans
served sick residencies at top venues around the city, but their own
event, Soundbar, has been a hit wherever it has
landed, including the now-defunct Plush Lounge in Summerlin. That’s
why we’re so excited Soundbar is back. Although in a new
home, expect the funky house beats to remain the same. Soundbar
returns on Thursday, Feb. 15, with DJ Kerri
Chandler and the House Society Crew at every local’s
favorite spot, Tabu Ultra Lounge.To
RSVP for the limited guest list, you can hit up Sanchez here.
Last week,
we told you more about the highly anticipated South Florida
transplant Café Martorano and its upcoming
unveiling at The Rio All-Suite Hotel. Back in
Florida, buffed-up chef/owner and DJ Steve Martorano
was helping play a key role in the Super Bowl victory of the
Indianapolis Colts and MVP Peyton Manning. It seems
as though Manning, who is a Café Martorano regular, wanted to give
his offensive lineman a reward for an amazing season and a little
inspiration to control the line during the Super Bowl, so he took
the entire offensive line to Martorano on the team’s first night in
South Florida. Less than a week later, the Colts came home with a
championship!

We’ve
written about the major motion picture “Knocked Up”
several times in the last six months for a couple reasons, although
none bigger than us just being fans of LVFBM friend and
“on-the-verge” actor Seth Rogan (“The 40-Year Old
Virgin,” “Anchorman,” “Freaks & Geeks”). The flick, which filmed
scenes at several Las Vegas spots, including The Mystere
theatre, has been affixed with a late-August release date,
but
you can catch a sneak peek of the trailer by clicking here.
A source within the production company told us, “Just wait, it’s WAY
funnier than ‘40-Year Old Virgin.’” Well, with that recommendation …
By the way, if you’re wondering where that scene was filmed in the
above trailer, look no further than Geisha House in
Los Angeles, the Hollywood hot-spot of LVFBM buddy Lonnie
Moore.

lyrics. To purchase tickets to see Jasmine Trias perform, call the
Flamingo Box Office at (702) 733-3333.

The
Las Vegas Hilton is now home to the largest hand-painted
mural in Las Vegas, with an image of Hilton headliner Barry Manilow
on display on the property’s main tower. The mural was installed
over a five-day period using a grid system to prepare the image and
three painters using brushes and rollers. “We wanted to reflect
Barry’s presence at our property in a big way” said Ken
Ciancimino, Las Vegas Hilton executive vice president. “It
can’t get mush bigger than this, and, like Barry, it will have
staying power – the elements can’t affect it.”
Boston’s The Gourmet Pizza

their annual Valentine’s fundraiser featuring their one-of-a-kind
heart-shaped pizza. From now until Feb. 14, Boston’s will

Friday, Feb. 9, Boston’s also will sell the heart-shaped pizzas and
donate $1 per pizza sold to St. Rose Dominican Hospital. Also, this
Friday, Boston’s The Gourmet Pizza will host a pizza-eating
contest to benefit the hospital. Local contestants will
square off in this grueling battle for the biggest appetite. To
participate in this year’s fundraiser, visit 9755 W. Flamingo Rd. or

This

Mars will celebrate the platinum status of its hit record
“A Beautiful Lie” at JET nightclub at The Mirage.

and Matt Wachter will be there celebrating their
great achievement.

Studio 54
is known to be great on Tuesday nights, but on Tuesday, Feb. 13,
it will raise the bar once again. Beginning at 10 p.m., The City of
Angles will come to The City of Sin in full force, with a special
performance by DJ Rush and an Ed Hardy Fashion Show
hosted by actor/singer Jeremy Jackson. For more information or table
reservations, call (702) 891-7279.
One visitor
who seemingly had a winning weekend was former NBA star
Charles Barkley, affectionately known as the “Round Mound
of Rebound.” According to MSNBC, the baller-turned-broadcaster won
$700,000 this weekend, most of it on blackjack and a winning bet for
Indianapolis. Something tells us Barkley will be a partying force
during next week’s festivities.
We also
wanted to send belated birthday wishes to the hardest-working woman
in the business,
Napkin Nights founder and photographer Tracy
Lee.
It would
seem as though celebrity chef Hubert Keller, of
Fleur de Lys fame, has plans to cash in on his Las
Vegas jackpot. Word on the grapevine has Keller planning a local
edition of his hit upscale burger joint
The Burger Bar (Mandalay Place) for his adopted
hometown of San Francisco. From what we hear, it’s also possible
Keller could parlay his burger action into more outlets in St. Louis
and even possibly Hawaii …
