Dear Sirs, Thanks for thinking of me and inviting me to be a part of your venue and organizations celebration on Saturday, 2007 in the Grand Ballroom, apparently under the condition that I would perform. Hmmmm. If there will be a few Jewish moyels circumcising folks,... some doctors treating a few patients,... a couple of lawyers defending some cases,... plumbers fixing a few toilets etc,... I do not see why myself, as an Entertainer, should not be a part of the array of free service giving line up. To perform for free, even at charity events etc, which I frequently do, I require a minimum of 12 show wise musicians and a played rehearsal. (One of the reasons you no longer see me appearing locally. I can live with that). Please forgive the bluntness of my reply but I have always wondered what is required of all the people in other professions to have the privilege of being an invited guest. Not like some of my fellow entertainers, I can do without the accolades, applause and the ubiquitous standing ovations. Humbly and thanking the Almighty, I have had more than my share of all that. I do understand if there will be no follow up to this invitation. But these have been my rules since I first arrived in Las Vegas in early 1965. Wishing you and all the organizers of the upcoming event the greatest success, I remain Yours truly, Nelson Sardelli PS: Nelson Sardelli (meaning me) is, (no doubt) a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Institute (How to make friends and influence people). It is also obvious that he has his own drums.... and marches only to the beat of the same.
