I recently received this e-mail…
Subject: "The Next Best Thing."
My
eyes beheld the biggest collection of
freaks. Thank God I didn't sign up for this!
I just hope it doesn’t kill our
business......

impersonators and thought you would like to
read it Bea...
I responded this:
To our members of the Network and everyone
who forwarded this to me,
I received this Blog article first through
Goggle Alert... and followed from several
with the "Thank God I didn't sign up for
this...." with no signature.... which is
more damaging to the industry than the
article.
The Blog Columnist didn't make the first
cut!! Perhaps someone should have warned the
judges that he has a friend who is a writer
for the show?
Unfortunately, mixing the amateurs and
wannabees in the same lineup with the
professional career actors who make a good
living as tribute artists always attracts
media comments negatively.... however, the
so-called cream will come to the top when
all the cuts are made and the final 30 are
placed in the shows.
Those professional career artists who did
not audition or will not audition in the
next cities are certainly hurting the
industry more by not allowing their talents
to be represented in this show that will be
watched by millions of people, including
agents and producers, beginning May 30th.
This show is a contest. There are many
thousands of very great actors who are
career tribute artists. Not everyone can be
a winner... but it would be very sad if the
winners were amateurs because the
professionals stayed home in fear of the
media. Real professionals are secure in what
they do and make a very good living doing
it.... and they have no fear of critique
from anyone. Contrary to some of your
concerns... this show will not end your
career if you are not the Best Celebrity
Impersonator in America winner.
I had hoped this show would elevate the
level of the professional tribute artist
industry in the eyes of the public as well
as the performing arts. Those who send
messages urging the Best to not be a part of
this show is not allowing this to happen...
and shame on you. And how brave you are by
not signing your name.
As for the Blog writer who wrote this
column, one editor once advised me (attached
to a rejection slip) that one should never
write about a subject they know nothing
about and have not spent time in researching
their subject.
He failed the first cut in an audition where
he thought he could fool the judges into
believing he was a professional tribute
artist... and in return he proved that the
pen was mightier than the sword by
publishing on the Internet an article
stating that tribute artists were freaks. In
a way, I am sorry he lost in the first cut.
Who knows what his ego would have driven him
to write in his article instead!!
There are all kinds of writers... and this
writer is not in my library. One thing for
sure; the Internet has opened the door to
anyone and everyone who has anything to say
to the world about their opinions on any
subject, regardless if they are paid or not
by anyone who cares. Blog writers are in a
class by themselves.
