One
published report has Michael Jackson
reviewing designs that could include a 50-foot statue of
himself that would stand in the Nevada desert, should the
moon-walking one land a Las Vegas show deal. The statue,
which would fire lasers from its eyes, is apparently from
the same designer who has put together sketches for Jacko’s
potential stage which includes audience controlled human
cyborgs. And quickly moving on …
Nevada gaming legislators have given MGM Mirage
the green light on the $1.5 billion MGM Grand Macau
hotel and gaming resort which is being developed in
partnership with Pansy Ho, daughter of
embattled former Macau monopoly man Stanley Ho.
This would also seemingly open the Las Vegas door to another
high-profile off-spring, Australian James Packer,
who has been waiting-in-the-wings because of a relationship
with Ho’s son, Lawrence. Packer is the son of the late
tycoon Carey Packer, the millionaire who
took the MGM Grand for nearly $40 Million at a blackjack
table in less than an hour a few years back.
Happy Birthday to rotund comic Jeffrey Beacher!
The man behind the Madhouse madness celebrated with a party
at Body English over the weekend. Doing the duties as
birthday songstress was none other than Paris
Hilton.
Speaking of Beacher, his Unprofessional Bowling League (B.U.B.A.)
got started at PMG’s Lucky Strike Lanes
(Rio All-Suite Hotel) last week with twenty of the league’s
130 teams getting going including your very own Vegas
Eye bowlers. Michael Politz unveiled his ‘Ball
of Doom’, a custom-made, transparent bowling ball
complete with an inlaid skull, and then used it to gutter
his way to a 43. On the plus side, Alex ‘Big Al’
Mavros brought the heat, scorching the lanes with
his nearly 30-mph fastball, the highest speed reached by any
bowler that evening. When all was said and done,
Team Vegas Eye barely squeaked by
Team Beacher’s Creatures which consisted of three
little people, a strong man and a belly dancer? Oy vey …

The El Cortez has started offering a
version of ‘Gaming Gourmet’, where players are served food
via carts right on the casino floor. While traditionally
this was not done over fears of players using the food to
mark cards, how healthy can it be to handle food and El
Cortez gaming chips at the same time? It will be interesting
to see how this trend progresses …

Tomorrow
morning, five Las Vegas casino dealers will speak to the
Nevada Assembly's Judiciary Committee to voice their support
for a new bill that would forbid tip-redistribution, a
direct response to Steve Wynn and Wynn Las Vegas’ action to
cut casino managers into the tip pool. According to Wynn,
the move was done to close the estimated $35,000 gap between
supervisor and dealer salaries.

Review
Journal gossiper Norm Clarke reports that
something is up with Prince and “his
unconfirmed departure” from the Rio. Didn’t we confirm that
last week when we announced the new nightclub taking over
the Club 3121 space? It
just goes to show why our readers are so far ahead of the
water cooler-curve …
