SOURCES TELL US that it’s confirmed; Club New York will be taking over the former Prana/Crustacean space attached to the Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops on Harmon Boulevard. The Big Apple transplant is eyeing a Memorial Day opening, although construction may push the opening back into the summer. The original namesake club closed its doors last year but had been a draw to big time celebrities like P Diddy and Jennifer Lopez in the past. Look for the club to take a “for the masses” approach with their Vegas venture. And, as always, remember where you heard it first!

The Stratosphere’s Top of the World restaurant is on the verge of celebrating their 11th anniversary at the top of the Valley’s tallest tower. Even more amazingly, it also marks another anniversary, five years with the restaurant for Executive Chef Stephen Wolff. Look for Wolff to celebrate both anniversaries with some new menu items.

Champ Car legend Matt Halliday, who drives for Conquest Racing, didn’t quite get the chance to show off his championship driving skills this weekend at the Vegas Grand Prix, he was taken out by another driver during the race. A source tells us that Halliday was really amped up for the race and disappointed with the results, look for him to bounce back with a strong showing at next week’s race in Long Beach, CA.

Speaking of the Vegas Grand Prix, while organizers are busy spinning the race’s overwhelming success, sources close to pit row indicate that it wasn’t all checkered flags. Lower than expected turnout, a fall-through of sponsorship dollars and a total disconnect to the local audience were touched as key problem areas. Apparently, when sponsorship dollars fell through, a collection of downtown casino operators stepped up helping ensure the event went off. We’ve been told that the race will return next year, although it will be with a new leadership team at the helm.

Mr. Vavoom and Harrah’s Director of Nightclubs Pauly Freedman have joined forces to officially kick off the season of Voodoo Risin’. Celebrating with a bikini fashion show on Thursday, April 19th, they will transform the patio into a runway at the Voodoo Lounge, while DJ  L1 and Joey Mazzola take on the turntables. Call 702.777.6875 or email the Rio here for complimentary guest list.

We stopped by LURE Ultra Lounge last week to check in with new managing partner, former Light Group maven, Sean Christie to see how his industry Wednesdays were doing and, as if you doubted, they are doing fantastic. It’s a very below-the-radar, word-of-mouth affair that’s drawing a top level of industry locals looking to have a subtle, toned-down midweek evening. But what’s more, Christie’s long-standing relationships are also bringing in visiting celebrities looking for the same elegant experience. Last week saw Jersey rockers Bon Jovi stopping by for a drink, ditto for former Will & Grace star Eric McCormack, country rockers Big & Rich and the unmistakable Ryan Seacrest who was joined by real estate tycoon Laurence Hallier. “We’re on a roll,” added Christie with a smile.

With Prince’s departure on the horizon, as reported, 3121 Jazz Cuisine has closed during regular operating hours. The restaurant which bared Prince’s moniker, as well as his personal chef in the kitchen, will remain open for the weekend late night jam sessions. Sources tell us that once 3121 Jazz Cuisine closes doors, the former restaurant housed there, Fiore’s, will return.

If you’ve got river running on your mind and have forgotten to make arrangements, this is your lucky day. The brand-new Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin has just released a special package for the 25th annual Laughlin River Run. From Wednesday April 25th-29th, the casino is offering a package that includes a three-night stay for $599 plus tax. For more information, or to make reservations, please call 888.662.5828.

Last Wednesday, Danny Gans celebrated seven years performing at The Mirage. “The Man of Many Voices” explores the world of entertainment through the eyes and voices of performers including Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Tom Hanks, and Al Pacino, among others.

Sapphires Gentlemen’s Club had a huge turnout for last week’s NCAA Championship game that featured the Florida Gators knocking off the Buckeye’s of Ohio State. ESPN was on-site doing a live remote that included coverage of the 1st ever Entertainer Basketball Shoot-out that had the beautiful dancers of Sapphires draining foul shots for fun and a first place prize of $500. It was the tantalizing Tatum who drained 7/10 shots in the first round, then hit 5 more in the finals to take home first prize.

Speaking of Sapphires, rumors have the new ownership team looking at taking part of the massive facility and adding an outdoor aspect to it. Not only would it be the first of its kind, but the possibilities are intriguing to say the least.

This Tuesday (4/10), Studio 54s hot industry night welcomes THRIVE recording artist and #1 New York House DJ, Johnny Vicious. Regarded as a turntable phenomenon, producer and remixer Johnny Vicious has been internationally renowned as one of dance music’s hottest stars, leaving an incredible mark on dance floors throughout the world. Don’t miss him tomorrow night, as he leaves his mark at Las Vegas’ Studio 54!

You have to feel for aspiring sommelier Gregory Condis, don’t you? First, the wine guy left Wynn Las Vegas’ signature restaurant, ALEX, after three sommeliers, upset over the lack of a comp from the restaurant, wrote letters to the human resources department complaining about service. Now, after making the move to New York City to help Hell’s Kitchen host Gordon Ramsey open his first stateside venture, he’s in the news again. This time he’s landed in a The New Yorker article, and hot water, after an allegedly rambunctious New Year’s celebration that drew fire from the quick tempered Ramsey. Can’t a guy catch a break …

The Flamingo Las Vegas recently began the second phase of its extensive room renovation, where more than 500 hotel rooms and suites will be redesigned into luxurious, stylish and technologically advanced Flamingo “GO Rooms.” The “GO Room” name was inspired by a derivative of the property name – FlaminGO. “The addition of the Flamingo ‘GO Rooms’ brings energy to the property that compliments our diverse line-up of entertainers and restaurants,” said the Big Flamingo, Don Marrandino. “Guests enjoy the quality, technology and attention to detail in each new room.”

Las Vegas’ original mash-up party is all set to return when Rok Box gets resuscitated on Monday, April 16th at the MGM Grand’s Tabu Ultra Lounge. Look for DJ Roctakon and local favorite DJ Scotty Boy to get it started in the DJ booth.

Did anyone else catch Ketel One’s appearance in The Sopranos last night? We already loved Ketel for its unbeatable clean taste, grounded marketing campaign and, of course, Vegas’ vodka princess Dee Dee Kennedy, but now knowing it’s Tony Soprano’s choice too makes it that much cooler! Duck, duck, the goose baby!

Our heartfelt recovery wishes go out to TAO Nightclub honcho Jason Strauss who has been under the weather for the last week. Get that chicken noodle I.V. going Jase, there ain’t no cure like Jewish penicillin.
