Dear Mona,
I am a single mom, and I know you've heard it all before. My husband left my sons and me for my best friend eight years ago. The boys are older now and I have started working two jobs to get myself out of debt. Six months ago my ex says he wants to come back. I want to fall in love and be loved, make my kids happy and be financially stable. Is going back to him the way to do it or should I just keep going the way I am?
Thank you,
Doing-it-all
Dear Doing-it-all,
Here's what the cards say for the relationship with your ex:
You still love him, he still loves you, but now you're smarter. This spread of cards says he has the next seven months to prove to you that he really IS interested in making it all work. Let him know right up front how difficult it has been for you caring for the boys financially and that it's been especially hard for you to spend quality time with them because you're working so much.
I want him to date you and the cards say that you need to maintain separate residences until at least August. Just like you, I want to make sure he's sure.
Your cards say:
Still be somewhat untrusting or emotionally detached from him for the next three months and suggest the two of you go to marriage counseling. Accept ANY assistance he offers with money; help with the boys, or generally making your life a little easier. According to your unique spread, it's time he proved himself.
Thank you for writing; please let me know what happens by August.
Sincerely,
Mona
