GOVERNOR JIM GIBBONS issued the following statement regarding the death of Army Reserve Staff Sergeant Coby Schwab, who was killed when an IED struck his armored personnel carrier on May 3, 2007 in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Sgt. Schwab was a longtime resident of Henderson, Nevada.
"I extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Army Reserve Staff Sergeant Coby Schwab. As we fight the Global War on Terror, our nation’s heroes continue to bravely fight our enemies overseas so that we do not have to face them here at home. Sgt. Schwab is one of our brave heroes, who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we may live in a freer safer world. Sgt. Schwab was a true patriot, and as we mourn the loss of this soldier, we remember all those who continue to serve our country in the Global War on Terror."
