We wanted to send out belated birthday wishes to two of our favorite industry friends. First, happy birthday to Wynn Las Vegas’ reigning queen of food and beverage PR, Amy Rossetti, ‘The Rose’ celebrated with a group of friends and co-workers at Tryst Nightclub. We also wanted to send out birthday shout-outs to TAO Nightclub’s Richard ‘Rock Star’ Candido who celebrated with a birthday blowout at TAO’s Sutra Wednesday in the restaurant’s lounge.

Congratulations to two longtime friends of the Eye: Bouchon’s brilliant bar manager and sommelier Michael Anthony and Studio 54 VIP goddess Justine Julian. The two finally tied the knot in a small ceremony in Cape Cod, Massachusetts this past weekend. We wish you both a long, happy and healthy future together!

Tomorrow night (Wednesday, May 30th), Tabu Ultra Lounge will introduce their new monthly promotion entitled House of Style. Look for a lingerie inspired fashion show and an appearance from a very special guest DJ.

Guests are invited to join Bling h2o as they host the Memorial Day Hangover party this Wednesday (5/30) at LURE Ultra Lounge inside the Wynn. This party is the hangover remedy made by the locals for the locals! For reservations, please call (702) 770-3633.

VooDoo Beach will kick-off their first Latin Pool Party with Super Estrella 92.7 this Wednesday (5/30) from 6pm – 10pm. Guests are invited to enjoy drink specials and live performances by Buddy Akai and DJ Dave Guzman. For cabana reservations, call (702) 777-6875.

RA Sushi, located at Fashion Show, will host its third annual “Nicky’s Week” fundraiser in to benefit the internationally renowned St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. From now until June 2nd, the restaurant and bar will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the signature Tootsy Maki, Edamame, Pork Gyoza, FIJI Water, Red Bull, and other selected beverages to benefit St. Jude Children¹s Research Hospital. The fundraiser was developed in memory of longtime St. Jude patient Nicholas “Nicky” Mailliard, who died February 2005 after a long battle with brain cancer. A nephew of one of RA’s founders, Rich Howland, Nicky held a special place in the hearts of RA associates throughout the organization. RA initiated the fundraiser in honor of Nicky as a way to further promote the exceptional attention and support provided at no cost to families and children receiving care at St. Jude.

You have to give respect where respect is due, so serious props to promoter and tattoo purveyor John Huntington. The longtime local has a serious history of success in Las Vegas and with this past weekend’s Summer of Love weekend long promotion at The Palms, he proved that taking time off to relax in Costa Rico hasn’t lessened his ability to succeed. The Palms was packed to the gills all weekend long and helped the N9NE Group establish sales records while pushing weekend passes that hit the wallet at $750 per ticket. By the end of the weekend, Huntington had proved he still has it and has to be at the top of a shortlist of successful independent promoters doing business in Las Vegas.

Speaking of the Summer of Love promotion, it featured numerous stellar DJ appearances across a star studded DJ lineup that encompassed the three-day weekend. One inspired set came from Mike ‘The Funkler’ Fuller who got a chance to relive the past by opening for house music maven Donald Glaude. Back in the days of ICE Nightclub, while serving as the director of marketing, Fuller would open for Glaude each Friday night during the popular ‘Thank Glaude It’s Friday’ promotion. Friday at MOON Nightclub was a chance for the pair to relive the promotion and both provided beat heavy sets that kept the crowd jumping.

Staying on the topic of the Palms, the N9NE Group is on the verge of introducing several new promotions which will kick-off on Tuesday, June 5th with the launch of MOON Nightclub’s new Tuesday night promotion. On slate the next night is the official after party for the launch of Ocean’s 13, also at MOON, which will include an opportunity to party with the film’s star studded roster. Also, on Sunday, June 24th, the N9NE team will introduce Clash to the masses, a mash-up focused event that will offer up performances from Tommie Sunshine and Deadly Seven on its inaugural evening. Oh yea, and the return of the Big Sleepover on June 17th.

Cafe Rio, a Utah-based restaurant chain specializing in fresh Rio Grande style Mexican cuisine, will be opening in Las Vegas on Thursday, June 7th.  "We are thrilled to introduce Cafe Rio to Las Vegas. With our fresh, delicious food and casual, comfortable dining, we hope to become a fixture in the Las Vegas lunch and dinner scene," said Bob Nilsen, Cafe Rio chief executive officer and president. Café Rio is located in Summerlin on the corner of Fort Apache and Sahara.

We wanted to send out early birthday wishes to Sapphire’s bespectacled main man of marketing, Shai Cohen, who will celebrate his birthday on Saturday, June 2nd. Happy birthday big guy!

A funny story about Cohen, last week while we were enjoying the Vegas nightlife, NBA All-World Center Shaquille O’Neal found himself hankering for his favorite cigar, alas it was nowhere to be found. He remembered a recent visit to Sapphires Gentlemen’s Club, who proudly carries the rare Padron 4000 and got Cohen on the phone. “When we told him we had it, he sent his driver over to pick one up!” Cohen laughed.

Earlier today (5/29), Mayor Oscar Goodman and Mike Nolan, El Cortez general manager, officially opened the new valet and porte cochere entrance for El Cortez Hotel & Casino. The men also spoke about downtown’s revitalization and the property’s expansive renovations to date.

While we occasionally get some good-hearted ribbing for gushing about the Asian-inspired hotspot, TAO Nightclub, this weekend’s entertainment included live performances from hip hop superstar Kanye West, the Gym Class Heroes and legendary house music DJ’s Paul Oakenfold and Erik Morillo, who had to be kicked off the turntables when he wouldn’t leave … at 6A. Seriously though, TAO has to have impacted what you expect from your favorite nightclub.

Speaking of making an impact, everyone and their mother knows PURE Management Group is paying out a hefty appearance fee for the 21st birthday party of embattled party girl Lindsay Lohan over the 4th of July weekend. While it’s hard to justify return on that kind of investment, PURE Nightclub has received another round of free global press after the actress checked into a California rehabilitation facility this morning. With the actress away for thirty days, expect the press to accumulate as the party nears. Just as we hype TAO for doing what they do best, the same kudos has to go to PURE for keeping their train steaming down the track.
