Domingo Cambeiro, President of DCC Architects, has accepted an invitation to serve on the Board of Trustees of “Three Square”, a community collaborative effort to end hunger in the Las Vegas Valley.

United under a common mission, MGM/Mirage, Harrah’s Entertainment, Station Casinos, Boyd Gaming, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Mr. Cambeiro, and other leading business and community leaders are striving to end hunger in Southern Nevada.

Mr. Cambeiro is confident the project will be an effective solution to the city’s growing problem of malnourishment among children, seniors, and under-privileged working families.

“This is an issue that I hold close to my heart,” expresses Mr. Cambeiro, “I experienced lack of food when Fidel Castro’s communist regime took over Cuba in 1959, so being able to help end the hunger of so many here in Clark County would mean so much to me.

Becoming a member of the Board, I’ll have first-hand knowledge of the different concerns and obstacles, and I hope to help resolve them.” A major step for this organization is to design and build a state-of-the-art, large scale food production facility in order to produce a stable and wholesome supply of food for agencies that provide resources to our most vulnerable citizens. This model will follow after the Greater Chicago Food Depository, which distributed more than 40 million pounds of nonperishable food to shelters, soup kitchens, and other facilities in the Chicago area last year.

Additionally, the Three Square facility in Las Vegas will house food recovery, job training and food pantry activities. After the Chefs of Three Square establish the culinary needs and shipping logistics, Mr. Cambeiro will fill the leadership role in guiding the architectural process for the facility.

Three Square, which stands for “three square meals a day,” is a new non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating the growing problem of hunger in the Las Vegas community. It will serve as the largest, collaborative effort to help non-profit organizations combat hunger among needy children, families and seniors. Three Square was created as a result of an extensive two-year study of the hunger and food insecurity challenges in Las Vegas done by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
