We wanted to wish a heartfelt happy birthday to the godmother of bottle service, Body English’s Shannon DuPont. Seriously though, DuPont’s impact on the growth of bottle service and VIP customer development cannot be overstated; she was pretty much the first nightlife focused VIP Host in the city and has played an integral role in the success of The Rock’s nightlife outlets including the blast-from-the-past party spot, Baby’s. She will be celebrating at Body English on Sunday, June 24th.
We caught up with former Tabu Ultra Lounge boss-man, Genghis Cohen last week and he was filling us in on some big moves he has coming in the future. He has resigned from his general manager post at Club Paradise to focus on several upcoming projects he is working on that will land in MGM Mirage properties around town. “Running Club Paradise was a great experience for me,” the talented Kiwi told the Eye, “Learning the gentlemen’s club industry had really helped round out my expertise and widened the services my consulting company can now offer.” We promised to stay hushed on the details, so stay tuned for more to follow …
What the heck happen at the V Theatre’s Soul Fest promotion? It all sounds very Lauren Hill-like, but apparently fans of the soul group Kindred were left red-faced and out-of-pocket when the 10:30P show simply didn’t go off as scheduled. Allegedly, when fans called to get their money back, they were told the band did actually play at 2:30A so no refunds would be given.
We wanted to wish a fond farewell to the one and only Tommy Rocker. The bar owning minstrel performed his final show ever, this past weekend at his longtime Dean Martin Drive watering hole. Tommy Rocker’s has long been a Las Vegas landmark, especially with hospitality staffers who would huddle up after work for some tasty cocktails and to sing along with the man himself. Rumors have the bar being replaced with a gentlemen’s cabaret, although those are only rumors at this time.
RA Sushi’s third national fundraiser that included thirteen of the company’s restaurants raised more than $100,000 with its weeklong program called “Nicky’s Week” benefiting the internationally recognized St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The $100,000 will help pay for the development of treatment and cures for diseases such as brain tumors, leukemia, and childhood HIV, and other life threatening illnesses in children. The Las Vegas location of RA Sushi, located at the Fashion Show Mall, raised more than $4,300.
Duchess, a bottlenose dolphin at The Mirage Dolphin Habitat gave birth last Friday night. The veterinary and marine mammal staffs at The Mirage are utilizing knowledge gained through their successful dolphin breeding program, as well as from other institutions to help Duchess and her calf through these important first weeks.
In an interesting marriage, Marriott International and hotelier Ian Schrager have entered a joint agreement to create a new, yet unnamed, chain of lifestyle, boutique hotels. While the felony-convicted and volatile Schrager might seem like an odd partner for the Mormon-owned, conservative Marriott company, they might just offer each other everything they need; style, vision and innovation from Schrager and support and developmental resources from Marriott. On the other hand…
Last weekend, revered Las Vegas locals Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf stopped by LURE Ultra Lounge (Wynn Las Vegas), to relax in the luxurious lounge and were blown away with the music coming from the talented Los Angeles spinster DJ Bree. They approached the DJ booth to meet Bree and relay how much they were enjoying the music. Ever the lady, Bree said it was her pleasure and to their excitement, slipped the pair a CD of her music.
Speaking of Los Angeles based female DJ talent, we stopped by ASIA this past weekend for a very soft opening and to check out the mashed up sounds of DJ Pesche. Not only was she an absolute pleasure, but her flair for finding unique musical combinations is fantastic. Here’s hoping this is a trend …
We’re not 100% certain what exactly MOON’s new Sunday night promotion ‘Clash’ will be, however, we’re hearing rumors that Tommy Sunshine’s opening act, Deadly 7, has some big plans for their Vegas nightclub introduction. Eight riot police, six semi-naked, pig masked men and a ten-person hazmat crew? Oh, and that’s just the opening song! On Sunday, June 24th, expect something never been seen in a Vegas nightclub before…
Warren Buffet and Owner of SKG Jerry Kramer seen fighting over Warren’s wallet over the weekend at the Wynn Resort.
This one is for you Cory!
