GOVERNOR JIM GIBBONS issued the following statement regarding the death of Army Private First Class Joshua S. Modgling of Las Vegas:
"Dawn and I extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Private First Class Joshua Modgling. Private Modgling volunteered to serve in the Global War on Terror, putting the needs of his country before those of himself. His sacrifice will not be forgotten. We honor his service and his dedication to this nation."
Pfc. Modgling died June 19th in Muhammad al Ali, Iraq, of wounds he suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, based at Fort Stewart, Georgia.
In honor of Pfc. Modgling, flags at the state Capitol will be flown at half-staff today [June 21, 2007].
