FIRST THINGS FIRST: The general working definitions of "Tribute," especially here in Las Vegas are as follows
a sum of goods or money paid to an overseer of your health and well being or some sort of act concocted to make money or headlines or both by casually honoring a much more famous person or group who is usually dead. ( See Elvis impersonators.) The Tribute to Country Music Superstars at Fitzgerald's Casino in downtown Las Vegas is neither. I can't imagine how much more entertaining this tribute could have been unless Brooks and Dunn, Tim McGraw, and Shania Twain showed up to impersonate themselves.
Remember this phrase, "Country music now has a home in Las Vegas" and it's at Fitzgerald's Casino. Foot stomping, yee-hawing, good ol' country music. The excellent musicians that comprise the backup band are worth the price of admission all by themselves and when you add in the very, very good impersonators you have a bargain that is tough to beat. Performed in a small, cozy but comfortable theater, this band of merry musicians left us wanting morewhich is the whole idea after all.
As I listened to the country music radio station the next day play virtually every song that was performed the night before, I would have been very hard pressed to tell you which was which. They are THAT good. There are just under two hours worth of reasons to go and see for yourself and a scant few seconds of excuses not to go. Parking was a breeze and checking out the Fremont Street Experience following the concert made for a delightful evening. My much better half and I enjoyed it thoroughly and I'm sure you will too. Country music has a home in Las Vegas and it's a home well worth visiting.
