MENDY ELLIOTT, DIRECTOR of the Nevada Department of Business and Industry, today announced her appointment of Gail Anderson as deputy department director effective July 1. Anderson was promoted from her position as administrator of the state's Real Estate Division to head the Las Vegas Director's Office.
Anderson served for 5 years as the head of the Real Estate Division, where she had once worked as the education and public information officer. Anderson also has previous experience as administrator of Trinity Christian Schools in Las Vegas and was a researcher for the Commercial Appraisal Group/Bank of America.
During Anderson's tenure with the Real Estate Division, she was active in the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO), where she served three terms on the Board of Directors and five years on the Education Certification Committee. She is currently in her second term as ARELLO Western District regional vice president.
Anderson holds a Master's Degree in educational leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
As deputy department director, Anderson will assist Elliott in the oversight of 16 diverse agencies that comprise the Department of Business and Industry; 12 of the agencies are regulatory. Her salary will be $94,749.
"I am extremely pleased about this appointment," Elliott said. "I chose Gail Anderson because she has a broad scope of knowledge in statutory responsibility, as well as administrative experience in the state's budgetary, legislative and personnel processes. She also has a proven ability to work well with diverse constituencies. This was an easy choice."
Elliott will conduct a national search for the real estate administrator position. During that time, Licensing Manager Susan Clark will serve as interim administrator of the Real Estate Division.
