June Prez Hiring List

AGAIN, I HAVE to re-iterate to my GOP friends. I am not supporting Hillary—or any candidate even though she has now found herself at the top of the hiring list.

Here's how they stand today.

  1. Hillary Clinton
  2. John McCain
  3. Michael Bloomberg
  4. Bill Richardson
  5. Mitt Romney
  6. Ron Paul
  7. Joe Biden
  8. Tommy Thompson
  9. Barack Obama
  10. John Edwards
Hillary Clinton and John McCain, at the top, are truly the only candidates running for President. The others are running for their party's nomination. If Clinton and/or McCain win the nominations, there will be little back-tracking on what they said in the primaries.

McCain is a close second. He has the guts to stand on issues that are not popular in his party—namely Iraq and Immigration.

Bill Richardson drops from the top spot to fourth. Although he has a great resume, his recent appearances showed him as someone with knowledge but no focus on his stand on the issues. He's beginning to feel like Jimmy Carter.

Although Mitt Romney is the most presidential of the GOP crop, he's now hiding information. I can understand the switching of views—like abortion rights—when you're governor of Massachusetts compared to running for the Republican nomination. But it's a problem when you are running as a man of faith, yet you seem to deny one of the tenets of your religion. Romney apparently ducked questions about the LDS belief that Jesus will return and reign for one thousand years in a small county of Missouri. (And we all know that Jesus thinks Missouri folks are silly. It has something to do with the Show Me State thing; I think he thinks they lack faith.)

Again, it's not Romney's religion. I have no problem with his faith. I have plenty of friends who are LDS. To be honest, all religions have some form of kookiness or cultishness. (Spell check went nuts.) Plus, even if Romney wanted to turn the country into a Mormon nation, he couldn't: there would only be a few LDS in Congress. Now if he nominates Orrin Hatch as his VP, you might get suspicious.

Still, Romney's management skills far exceed many other hopefuls. And remember, this is a hiring list. This is not a popularity contest. We are hiring someone to run our nation.

Some disclosure here: I have predicted in previous postings that the final two candidates will be Clinton and Romney. Just in case, you think I'm pushing Mitt too much.

Yes, I included Michael Bloomberg. I think he's qualified as a manager. I also included Fred Thompson, but he didn't make the list. Thompson is merely an actor who represents a small portion of the electorate who has brought little legislation while in the Senate. Technically, he's George Bush with a better voice and TV presence. According to people in the Senate, Thompson would spend more time off the job than George W. did.

And yes, Rudy is also off the list.

Don't like it? Show me your list.
