Rumors that the Bellagio was permanently closing the Fontana Lounge seem to be misguided. When the property closed the popular lounge last week, whispers ran rampant; it now appears that the property has plans to re-open the venue in December, and will use it as a private gaming area while renovations take place elsewhere on the casino floor.

We keep hearing conflicting stories about the on-again, off-again nightclub project at New York, New York and now the latest rumor insist the Rokbar invasion is back on. The club with outlets in Los Angeles and Miami count rocker Tommy Lee and international spinster Paul Oakenfold among its investors.

This Saturday, July 7th Texas Station will host a free mass wedding for more than 70 couples getting married or renewing their vows on what is being billed as the "luckiest day in history", 7-7-07. The Texas Station 777 wedding event includes a free ceremony conducted by a minister, a champagne toast, wedding cake and a marriage certificate holder for the couples. Texas Station will be accepting reservations for the event through July 6th.

What's the difference between downtown and The Strip? The historic Binion's Hotel and Gambling Hall sold this weekend to TLC Casino Enterprise for the paltry sum of $35 million. TLC is the company that owns the neighboring Four Queens. It's obvious that the city and county will have to play nice on this one, but seriously, extend the monorail downtown. It's such an easy solution, that the lack of discussion is shockingly egregious.

On a similar note, the Fremont East extension project is continuing nicely, with all sorts of pretty neon popping up. Our question, who's going to see it?

Let's end the downtown discussions on a high-note, the Downtown Cocktail Room is a beautiful venue with a well-thought out drink menu featuring one of the city's best cocktails; the Cucumber Watermelon Martini complete with muddled cucumber and watermelon. Even master sommelier Steven Geddes was impressed during a recent visit…

This Thursday, July 5th beginning at 10pm, Sapphire, Bluff Magazine, Players Only and Card Runners will be hosting the biggest poker party of the year. The news wire went crazy this weekend when former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss announced her newest project entitled Dirty Laundry, a 14-machine laundromat that will open in a Pahrump, Nevada strip mall. While the long-alleged male brothel, Heidi's Stud Farm, was mentioned in every article, Fleiss admitted she still hasn't submitted applications for licensing or a liquor license. She did add that she was moved to open the laundromat after the death of one of her pets, a macaw named Dalton.

Funnyman Jim Carrey has announced he will be shooting a new film in Las Vegas entitled Sober Buddies. In the flick, Carrey will play a court-appointed chaperone who falls off the wagon while accompanying a wild executive on a trip to Las Vegas.

The American Superstars show at the Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower has added Prince impersonator Jason Tenner to its faux-superstar lineup starting Monday, July 9th. "Jason Tenner is a veteran performer who makes you believe that you are hearing and seeing Prince. It takes a very talented showman to even come close to matching the raw energy and musical brilliance that makes Prince so endearing to his fans," said producer Mark Callas.

Magician Criss Angel has been hit with a divorce suit by his estranged wife Joanne Sarantakos, who claims that she was forced to keep her marriage to Angel a secret to boost his appeal to female fans. The divorce papers also named actress Cameron Diaz, as the "other woman" and Sarantalos' legal representation added that she would be served with papers when she returned to New York. Both Angel and Diaz deny a romantic relationship…

Farewell Jacko! International man of mystery, Michael Jackson, has left the Las Vegas mansion he had been living in. A representative simply stated that he decided not to exercise the purchase option on the home and has not been evicted as has been reported elsewhere.

Congratulations to president of the Nevada Restaurant Association, Paul Hartgen, who proposed to National Restaurant Association VP, Beth Madden last week. The couple is looking forward to a June 2008 wedding. Now if only he can figure out how to get her to move to Las Vegas!

This week's birthday wishes go out to one of our oldest friends, former Beach Boy member Billy Hinsche, who turned one-year younger last week. Happy birthday Billy, you're still the coolest cat we know! Also, birthday wishes to Loni Mickelson who celebrated her special day at TAO Nightclub.

They will also be hosting one final 'Industry Wednesday' on July 4th. When LURE reopens it will be with an entirely new look and new name.

Don't forget about the return of Pole-A-Palooza at JET Nightclub on Monday, July 9th. Not only is it one of Las Vegas' most fun promotions, anytime lovely ladies are pole dancing their way to $10,000 in prize money, you know your going to see some special tricks!
