THE CITY'S PLANNING & Development Department has received two 2007 APEX Awards for Publication Excellence. APEX awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.

The "Green Building Program" campaign won in the Government Agency Communications category. The entire program, including the City Council resolution and presentation, media coverage, press releases, Web site postings and campaign collateral created for the program were submitted as part of the entry.
The "Green Building Program" for new residential housing is a strategic alliance between the city and the Southern Nevada Homebuilders Association's Green Building Partnership. The program brochure is posted on the city's Web site at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/planning.
In the Annual Report category the APEX award winner was the Planning & Development Department's "Snapshot of Las Vegas 20052006." This annual report publication provides the public with an overview of the Planning & Development Department's work product and activity in fiscal year 20052006. "Snapshot of Las Vegas 20052006" is also available on the city Web site.
"It is most gratifying to have the hard work and talent of the department and the city honored with these prestigious awards," said Planning & Development Director Margo Wheeler, AICP. "The recognition of the visual and content creativity of the Green Building Program campaign is especially rewarding because the program is a creative approach in public/private alliances in its own right."
