Being Howard Stern

HOWARD STERN, THE highest paid radio personality in the U.S. has proclaimed himself the king of all media. He has been dubbed a shock jock because of his sexual and racial humor and has shocked people throughout his entire radio career. He has been the most fined person on radio and you would think those hefty fines would stop him, but it doesn't. He says exactly what he wants, when he wants and doesn't care who he offends.

I remember the first time I heard Howard on the radio. I could not believe my ears and then when he went on TV I could not believe my eyes. I never had more laughs watching his show and watching his side kicks. It was outrageous what he got away with, especially "Fart Man." I still laugh when I think about him dressed as "Fart Man," with his butt cheeks exposed. The men loved when he had porn stars on his show and especially when he had them remove their clothes and they willingly did what he told them to do.

Also bringing joy to my life was reading his books. "Private Parts" was made into a movie and his stories about his parents and his younger years of growing up were classic. I can remember sitting alone at home reading the book and laughing out loud and thinking if anyone would see me they would think I was crazy. I loved his humor and how authentic and real he was.

All this is leading up to my friend Stewart Brodian who is a Howard Stern look-alike impersonator. I met Stewart at the Impersonator's Convention at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas and I was very impressed by him. Stewart looks, talks and walks like Howard. The resemblance is striking with his lean 6'3" frame, piercing blue eyes and long dark brown hair and the round steel-rimmed sunglasses. I did a double take when I first saw him with an Ozzy Osborne look-alike, and then standing next to a Bing Crosby Impersonator. www.brodian.com

Stewart hosts a weekly 2-hour show at a local NPR radio station in PA, playing alternative rock. He has many musical talents—vocalist, rhythm guitarist, pianist and composer. He has appeared on various TV shows including the Howard Stern show on the "E" network, stand-up comedy, a mystery theater cruise and the list goes on.

Stewart is single and he said he prefers blondes. Now if we can find a blonde impersonator who looks like Beth Ostosky, that is Howard's real-life fiancé, it would be a perfect match and they would create a lot of fanfare here in Las Vegas.

I must say that all the impersonators I have met have been open, warm, genuine and caring with great personalities and are a tribute to the person they are portraying. They truly are the next best thing and I am proud to call them my friends.
