Tributes to Elvis Presley & Rod Stewart

IT IS HARD to believe that 30 years has passed since the death of Elvis. I can still remember that day when I heard the news. It stopped me cold in my tracks and I was stunned. Elvis was one of my favorite singers of all time and I was so sad when he died.

No one can ever replace him but we do have many that pay tribute to him everyday and they come in all shapes and sizes. Some are great, some are good and some are so so. I always appreciate their talent as they sing and imitate Elvis. There is one Elvis impersonator that is the best and that is Matt Lewis who I saw perform at "Legends In Concert" at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas. He was fabulous. His singing, his looks, his body (in his perfectly fitted black leather pants), and all his moves were perfect. I thought I was watching Elvis Presley and the sensations in my body moved to the music and the songs.

They saved the best for last as he was the closing act with a spectacular performance and an ending to a great show. It was thrilling and exciting to have Matt Lewis in the radio studio as he talked about his family and career. His smile and his beautiful, blue-green eyes were overwhelming as he spoke. He has been in the show for over 10 years and he is still going strong there. www.thekingonline.com

Matt just completed a movie about The King's life which shows his search for spiritual knowledge and peace. It shows a side of him that has not been portrayed in any films. It will be released later this year. People who saw the film said after hearing and seeing him in the film they thought they were seeing a ghost because he was perfect as Elvis. www.tearsofaking.com

Matt sat back very relaxed and we all joked around, laughed and had such a good time. I promised I would go back to see the show again because once is not enough. In reality, who can ever get enough of him. I could listen to Matt all night and all day and night when he is dressed up in his stunning outfits. One jumpsuit cost him $3,800. He has perfected the moves, the mannerisms, the looks and the voice.

Joining Matt Lewis in our hour-long radio show was Bob Stewart, a cousin of Rod Stewart and his beautiful, talented wife JoRae Stewart. Bob not only impersonates Rod Stewart he has a canny resemblance to him and I guess because they are cousins. His raspy voice sounds exactly like Rod and it is very difficult to tell them apart. Bob and JoRae are presently performing at "Bugsy's" located at the southwest corner of Jones and Sahara and will be there for only 2 more weeks. They are going to London for a few weeks and then traveling to other states before finally coming back to Las Vegas in December. They are both in demand for private parties and in local hotel casinos. JoRae has the voice of an angel and when she sings songs by Celine Dion it sends chills throughout your body. www.rodstewart1.com

They play doo-wop, rock, country, oldies and contemporary music. Bob records on Capital Records, plays the keyboard and sings lead with JoRae. What a great combo these two are together. They definitely compliment each other. Bob is charming with his English accent and a delight to talk with. What an Englishman. JoRae, a long-legged beauty has Bob on bended knee when he performs his "Hot Legs." They both have the talent and the whole package.

You know it is not easy to be an impersonator because an impersonator has to be perfect, even better than the real thing so when these performers are perfect that is a great accomplishment and they deserve the standing ovations they receive at the end of their performances. I definitely stand up and applaud these great people and am thankful and grateful that they are giving tribute to their idols. They then become our idols who we then can admire and adore and thank them for bringing joy and love into our lives. Actually this is what we do with friends so I now consider them my friends and what great friends they are.
