WHEN THE RESTAURANT known originally as Pampas Grille opened on Memorial Day in 2006, it introduced Las Vegas to Rodizio, a style of restaurant service in Brazilian and Portuguese restaurants. There is usually a set price and the waiters bring an offering of food to each customer at several times throughout the meal until the customers tell the waiters they have had enough. In churrascarias, servers come to the table with knives and a skewer, on which are speared various kinds of meat, most commonly cuts of beef, pork, or chicken. Most rodizio courses are served right off the cooking skewer, and are sliced or plated right at the table An array of vegetables buffet-style accompany the meal including hearts of palm, jumbo asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, zucchini, field greens, imported cheeses, proscuitto, smoke salmon and a variety of salads. The hot bar includes roasted potatoes, Brazilian rice, steamed mussels, feijoada (black bean stew), fried banana, Brazilian cheese bread and Brazilian dumplings.

Now the official name is Pampas Churrascaria Brazilian Grille in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood or technically Pampas Churrascaria with "Brazilian Grille" as the style of meal served. Pampas Churrascaria takes its name from "churrasco," the South American method of grilling meat on a wood or charcoal fire, and Pampas, the region of high plains in southern Brazil where the finest cattle graze on the grasses of the land. The best cuts of meat are prepared and spit-roasted over a brick "rodizio" to juicy perfection.

Pampas Churrascaria Rodizio specializes in:

Steak chunks wrapped in bacon
Turkey
Sirloin steak (cut semicircular and served in slices called Picanha)
Pork loin (Lombo)
Leg of Lamb (Cordiero)
Brazilian sausage (Linguica)
Smoked Ham
Grilled chicken
Shrimp
Scallops wrapped in bacon
Salmon
Lobster tails
Pineapple (to clean the palate between meats)

There is a full lunch and dinner menu as well for those who are not interested in trying the Rodizio. For lunch, a variety of sandwiches including steak, grilled salmon and sausage on roasted tomato are offered. Dinner selections include steaks such as New York, Ribeye and beef Tenderloin, Brazilian Bouillabaisee made with lobster, shrimp, swordfish and mussels in a tomato sauce and coconut milk base served over linuini, Pacific Salmon and Halibut.

The full service bar offers specialty drinks such as a Caipirinha, which is Ypioco Cuchara, lime and sweet syrup or Caipirosca, their signature drink made with Absolut Vodka. A martini menu is available with Lemon Drop Martini, Guava Martini, Flirtini, Cherry Apple Martini and Chocolate Martini, to name a few. For those who want to indulge, Pitchers of Pampas Sangria, Pampas Margarita and Rum Runners can be shared at the table or bar.

The restaurant itself is open and airy with a glass-enclosed, private dining room and close to the Harmon Avenue exit with valet service available on Harmon Avenue. There are also facilities for banquets and mixers. The hours are 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily and the phone number is 702-737-4748 with reservations recommended. Pampas Churrascaria at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood is a dining experience you need to try, especially if you love a variety of meats grilled to perfection.
