I WANT TO start by saying thank you to the La Voce readers who have been taking part in the club card offer. We hope that you continue to take advantage of the great offers our loyal advertisers are presenting to you. Every day we are getting more and more people sending in their forms to be part of this service, and we hope that this continues. I also want to thank those who have been subscribing to the newspaper. We love that you are taking advantage of the great $20 cost to receive and read the newspaper at your home. We have been getting dozens of new subscribers a month from across the country and hope that our publication continues to give you the piece of Italian culture you so want and deserve. For our publication in so many ways is the only outreach for many of our readers to connect to their Italian heritage.

The need for our publication not only in Las Vegas but throughout the nation is important so our views, culture and our traditions will maintain for generations to come. So we are going to offer even more to our readers. In the next few months we are going to be adding a few sections to our newspaper, Medical, Health & Fitness, Fashion & Design and Hair & Makeup. The intent of these sections will help you, our readers, in the business, financial, political and social arenas to stay on top of the trends and make a healthier you.

La Voce, “The Voice of the Italian-American in Las Vegas,” is not just a slogan, but a mission that I believe in. I want Italians locally and abroad to be proud of the culture, traditions, beliefs and morals which our parents and forefathers were steadfast. That is why we are expanding our paper to include health, fitness, nutrition and style. We look forward to having these new sections in our newspaper and having you, our loyal readers, let us know what you think of the articles. Please let us know what other topics you want to read about in our family-style newspaper. You can email me directly at lasveagaslavoce@aol.com.

PASSING OF A MASTER VOICE
I am saddened to say that the masterful voice of Luciano Pavarotti is now silent. His life will be long remembered as there is no one that will follow in his footsteps. The power in his voice and passion he showed on the stage could never be matched or imitated. His love for people was exciting as he always carried a smile on his face, even in his pain. We can all learn a lot from such a beautiful human being.

I for one will miss Luciano’s performances and will for many years still enjoy his voice on CD. You can read more about his life and learn about his key performances on page 11 of this La Voce issue.

Luciano Pavarotti died at the age of 71.

WELCOME
I want to take this opportunity to welcome Louie Giampa to La Voce, who is my new Asst. Editor and Sales Manager. He will write an article in our newspaper once a month, and for all you loyal advertisers and new clients coming on board please look forward to speaking with this intelligent, kind and considerate person.

ITALIAN AMERICAN CLUB INVITATION
And finally, the Italian American Club is inviting everyone to see their newly decorated dining rooms and complete renovation of the restaurant. They have added another chef to their staff and the food is said to be “Great!” They want to express that the banquet facilities are always available for weddings and other celebrations. They are adding a Karaoke night soon and if you have any questions about their service and what they have to offer please call them directly at 457-3866. And if you are interested in learning conversational Italian they began offering classes in September so call them for more details now.
