Governor Gibbons’ Statement on the Death of Claude “Blackie” Evans

GOVERNOR JIM GIBBONS [September 28, 2007] issued the following statement regarding the death of labor leader Claude “Blackie” Evans:

“Nevada has lost a true leader, a man who spent his life working to make the lives of average Nevadans better. For many decades, Blackie Evans was a champion for labor, and he will be remembered for his many contributions to ensuring the safety and prosperity of workers in our state. Dawn and I extend our sincere sympathies to Blackie Evans’ family and many friends.”
