The Pace Will Quicken in November

I LOVE THIS time of year. The summer heat is history, presidential candidates are crossing the state and Republican chances for success next year are dwindling faster than my students’ hopes for an easy “A” in Political Science.

Consider the opportunities before us in 2008:
  • The Democratic voter advantage in Congressional District Three has risen again, topping 5,000 more Democrats than Republicans in the district, and the DNC has made that a targeted race.

  • Organizing for the Nevada Democratic Presidential Caucus has been a great success and as our party’s National Committeewoman I couldn’t be more proud of the welcome our state has given to all of the candidates. Once the party’s candidate is chosen, we have an army in place to support the nominee. We can all come together to turn Nevada blue.

  • One more seat for my caucus in the Nevada State Senate and Democrats will have the majority in both houses of the Nevada Legislature.
Let’s focus on that last goal for a moment.

Consider the progress we can make together! Working together we can save Nevada from the fumbling leadership of Governor Gibbons and join our Assembly colleagues to set the agenda for a new decade of progress. We can start moving us away from the bottom of every good list and the top of every bad list—as I said during the 2006 campaign season. All we need is one seat.

The importance of a surge towards the majority in the Nevada Senate can’t be overstated. As the year moves on I’ll be writing again to let you know about some great candidates and important events coming up. Right now there is a very important favor I have to ask you.

With the tremendous increase in our state’s population every month, we can’t afford to stand still on expanding our online network of friends and neighbors. Head to this link and use the form to invite as many friends, family and coworkers to join us as you like!

With your help we’ll continue to grow our team across the state and I cannot thank you enough for all you do.
