GOVERNOR GIBBONS AND B&I Director Mendy Elliott Announce Appointment of Ombudsman of Consumer Affairs for Minorities
Governor Jim Gibbons and Director of the Department of Business and Industry Mendy Elliott today [October 18, 2007] announced the appointment of Leticia Bravo as the Ombudsman of Consumer Affairs for Minorities and Executive Secretary to the Nevada Commission on Minority Affairs.

“We are fortunate to have someone with such an extensive professional background in the field of minority relations assume the role of the Minority Ombudsman,” said Director Elliott. “I am confident that Leticia’s experience will be an invaluable resource to the Department of Business and Industry and the Consumer Affairs Division.”
The Minority Ombudsman’s primary duties include the design and implementation of outreach education activities in minority community locations. The Ombudsman also serves to increase awareness of deceptive trade practices throughout Business and Industry and assist the Consumer Affairs Division with consumer program goals.
“I’m delighted at the opportunity to serve Nevada’s minority consumers and to assist in maximizing and coordinating the programs designed for their protection through the Department of Business & Industry and the Division of Consumer Affairs,” said Leticia Bravo.
Most recently, Leticia served as Environmental Health Program Manager with the Area Health Education Center of Southern Nevada where she oversaw a federal grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development that provided education regarding lead poisoning in low-income communities. Prior to her move to Las Vegas, Leticia spent three years as Public Information Officer and Latino Liaison for the Cook County Clerk’s Office in Chicago, Illinois.
