Many of us remember Thanksgiving Day as time when mom woke up at dawn to begin preparing the big Thanksgiving meal all day long, slaving over a hot stove, checking the oven, cooking and baking for hours only to clean up afterwards while everyone retired to the living room to watch TV.
Welcome to 2007!
Who has the time, much less the desire, to spend days preparing a
great Thanksgiving
dinner when there are places you can order a fabulous meal and spend leisure
time with friends and family? This week, some places offering Turkeys to Go
will be spotlighted and next week, some great places to eat your Thanksgiving
dinner will be highlighted.
First, in Summerlin, there is JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa taking the hassle out of the holiday by preparing dinner this Thanksgiving season.
“Leave the cooking to us,” says Executive Chef Bruce Knapik. “Simply call Ceres Restaurant and our Turkeys To Go team will take care of the rest, delivering your dinner right to your car from the Palms Tower Valet.” Chef Knapik is an incredible chef who can truly create the perfect Thanksgiving meal.
If you have eight to ten people to feed and want a traditional
dinner, Turkeys To Go includes everything from a moist 14-16 pound turkey
complimented by Giblet Gravy,
Homemade Sage Stuffing, Roasted Turnips and Sweet Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts, Honey Glazed Carrots, Creamy
Yukon Mashed Potatoes, Field Greens with choice of dressing, Fresh Cranberry
Sauce, home baked
dinner rolls and something mom would insist on having to
finish the dinner, two freshly baked pies, one pumpkin and one pecan.
To order this holiday meal, order prior to Tuesday, November 21. The package price is $152 excluding tax and additional side orders may be purchased separately. To reserve Turkeys To Go, call Ceres Restaurant at (702) 869-7381.
For another choice, there is the MGM Grand teaming up with Diestel
Family Turkey Ranch to provide a gourmet feast. The Diestel Family Turkey Ranch
in Sonora, California is known for naturally
raised (organic) turkeys, making it tender and juicy when cooked. The turkey
dinner with all of the sides is enough to feed a family of four and
includes Oven Roasted Diestel Tom Turkey, Sage & Raisin Oatmeal Stuffing, Yukon
Mashed Potatoes, Yams with crème fraiche and pecan molasses, Fresh Corn Pudding,
Sautéed Brussels Sprouts with onions, Green Beans Almandine, Roasted Giblet
Gravy, Gingered Orange Cranberry Relish, a trio of salads and your choice of two
decadent deserts. The Diestel Family Turkey Ranch has been range raising their
certified organic turkeys since 1949, and all their turkeys are fed
a low fat vegetarian diet to ensure quality poultry. The cost is $350 with only
200 dinners available. For this dining experience, order on the MGM Grand
Turkey To-Go line at
(702) 891-3418 with a credit card. While technically the deadline is
November 19, once the 200 dinners are ordered, the Turkey To-Go service will no
longer be available. After ordering your meal, you then can make a reservation
time on Thanksgiving Day and your dinner will be delivered to your car in the
valet lot of the MGM Conference Center.

Then
there is Memphis Championship BBQ offering pick up service for individual
turkeys, individual hams and full Thanksgiving dinners. Choice of sides include
creamed corn, green bean casserole, candied yams, mashed potatoes and giblet
gravy, cole slaw, baked beans, cranberry sauce, fruit salad, and sage or corn
bread dressing. You can thank owner Mike Mills, winner of countless world
records in cooking, for some delicious food. There are three locations in Las
Vegas (see maps for addresses and phone numbers) and their website is
www.memphis-bbq.com.
