Jim and
Glynda Rhodes of Rhodes Homes recently gave a gift of $10 million to the Nevada
Cancer Institute (NCI) to help the institute further its education program. The
donation occurred during the annual Rock for Cure at the Mandalay Bay Event
Center.
Jim Rhodes mother, Betsy is a cancer survivor and his father, Leonard died of
esophageal cancer. The event was hosted by CNN's Larry King who has been a
strong supporter of NCI. Among other celebrities attending the event were Miss
America, Miss Universe and illusionist Chris Angel.
The video below is from the Rock for the Cure event.
The video interview with Larry King is about another disease, autism which affects 1 in 150 children around the world. Larry King recently had Jenny McCartney as a guest on his show where she spoke about what her organization has done for autism.
This also correlates with philanthropist and general contractor Leon Benzer who also has an autistic child and recently started The Benzer Autism Foundation. Plans are being made to purchase a ranch to help autistic children. Former NBA star Spencer Haywood has made himself available to assist with the foundations endeavors.
The second interview with Chris Angel addresses the mind and what it can accomplish in the healing process.
If you or someone you know are the parent of an autistic child, please contact The Leon Benzer Foundation at (702) 891-9621.
