Governor Jim Gibbons announced the appointment of Susan Carrasco to the State of Nevada Department of Business and Industry Taxicab Authority.

The state Taxicab Authority oversees, licenses, and regulates all taxi companies and drivers in Clark county by establishing fares, allocating the number of taxes and issuing divers’ permits.

“We are very fortunate to have Ms. Carrasco join the Nevada State Taxicab Authority.  Her legal expertise will greatly reinforce the state’s efforts to keep our streets, motorists, and passengers safe,” said Governor Jim Gibbons.

Susan currently serves as Assistant General Counsel at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  She attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Literature and Spanish.  Following her undergraduate studies, Susan attended California Western School of Law in San Diego, California where she was awarded a Juris Doctor Degree.

“I am extremely happy to have the opportunity to serve as a Board member.   Las Vegas is a truly unique and growing city and I look forward to working hard to promote and ensure the safety of residents in Las Vegas as well as its visitors and tourists,” said Susan Carrasco. “As vital as the taxi industry is to Nevada and to tourism, I am eager to work with the board to be sure we continually have safe and ample taxis on the streets.”

“Ms. Carrasco is an important addition to the Taxicab Authority.  She will ensure that all issues which arise are resolved fairly and accurately according to statute for the consumer, taxicab companies and drivers,” said Business and Industry Director Mendy Elliott.
