Another Resource for Borrowers
Foreclosurehelp.nv.gov, the website for Nevada homeowners facing the potential loss of their homes, now includes information on Nevada 2-1-1 as another way for borrowers to obtain foreclosure assistance.
“Nevada 2-1-1 has connected Nevadans to free information about important community resources since early 2006,” said Business & Industry Director Mendy Elliott. “It made sense to build on the existing system by adding foreclosure assistance to the services provided.”
“Sometimes consumers are dealing with more than just mortgage troubles. Calling 2-1-1 puts them in touch with a range of agencies to help them with other issues, in addition to foreclosure, that they may be facing” said Director Elliott. “It’s a holistic approach to the situation.”
Borrowers who may be at risk for foreclosure will be transferred directly to a trained housing counselor when they call 2-1-1. Counselors offer free assistance, which may include helping borrowers navigate the foreclosure process and acting as facilitators between borrowers and their lenders or loan servicers.
Nevada 2-1-1 is a statewide coalition of United Way of Southern Nevada, United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra, the State of Nevada, HELP of Southern Nevada and Crisis Call Center, along with other non-profit and private businesses.
“We are pleased to add foreclosure assistance to our service,” said Dan Goulet, President of United Way of Southern Nevada. “Many Nevadans are struggling with the possibility of losing their homes. Having an easy-to-remember, single phone number that can connect them with a wide variety of resources is invaluable during such a stressful time.”
Nevada 2-1-1 is currently available from 8 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, excluding holidays.
