MOST of you have been there?????? If you have gone to the huge modern building on Valley View Blvd to do business with the phone company, EMBARQ, you walk through, pass by, the ART exhibitions provided by the 501c3 non- profit organization of MUSEO HISPANO DE NEVADA.
Recently, they have been displaying photographs of LATINO Entertainers and are now about to present a first- ever presentation of MUJERES LATINAS: “Perceptions & Reality” Art Exhibition.

There are a slew of ARTISTS, Community Leaders and beautiful Latino women chosen to participate in this showing…Please come out and join in the fest ivies this Saturday evening. Details below:
LYNETTE SAWYER is the Founder and Executive Director of this growing organization. She grew up in the largest and most noted ART Mecca in America, NEW YORK City, and brings with her the expertise and knowledge it takes to establish an organization like this in our community, and help make a difference. Ms. Sawyer is also a panelist for the ARTV AWARDS and participated in the 2007 event.
CHICANO Art work has such an influence in our country, and so many artists, like the BRONX MURAL KINGS, “TATS CRU” who were the Recipients of the 2007 Award for PUBLIC ART, are becoming famous for their contributions. After all, public ART is for everyone to enjoy! These were a bunch of kids doing GRAFITTI in the Bronx, and then started to get sponsored by COCA COLA, ROCKEFELLA Foundation and Major Corporations to do huge Ad Campaigns in NEW YORK City. Beats the hell out of going to jail for property vandalism! Something for our City to consider?
I am a big supporter of the organizations that help to direct and focus young Artists in the right direction. This Museum offers art instructional classes and summer camp workshops for young people. Please check out their site. With nearly 130 recreational facilities being closed down this summer by Governor Quinn, we need to support the Organizations that help pick up the slack and keep the young people busy doing creative things….
I met artist MARIA SANCHEZ, in San Francisco, 20 years ago. She visited my 14 rooms, Spanish Mediterranean home, a landmark 3-story house built in 1926. It was filled with art and had an unfinished basement, where I stored my collectibles and junk. She asked if she could build an art studio in my basement, where she could work on her art, in turn, she would help me around the house, where I also worked with an assistant. What a deal! Who knew that many years later, Maria is still with ARTV, and has developed into one of the most multi-talented emerging artists on the national scene. It is ALL about support and education. For many years before his death, we had the honor of working with famed actor/artist ANTHONY QUINN. Cheech Marin, who hosted the Premier ARTV AWARDS in 2005, is the largest collector of Chicano art in the world. His exhibition travels the globe.
The Spanish artists are noted as being some of the most talented through out history and command some of the highest record-breaking prices on their works. Hope to see you are the RECEPTION.
ARTPEACE!
