I'm just an old salt

Who dug down into my poetry vault

It wasn't my fault

That I won by default

It doesn't seem right

Not even polite

To accept the prize outright

Following my fellow writers

I want to donate it to one of our fighters

When they're home on leave

This prize they can retrieve
