EIGHT IS ENOUGH?

On August 8, 2008, the Las Vegas casinos (and
especially wedding venues) will be busier than
usual as the superstitious count on 8/8/08 to
bring good fortune. Considered good luck in
Chinese culture, the number 8 is the sign for
infinity turned on its side, and thus a positive
omen for those tying the knot. Innovative Dining
Group (IDG) restaurants BOA Steakhouse and Sushi
Roku at the Forum Shops in Caesars Palace have
created special eight course menus to celebrate
the fortuitous date. These "Infinite Experience"
menus will ensure guests enjoy the best of what
each restaurant has to offer. Priced at $125 per
person with a $75 wine pairing option, the menus
will be offered August 8 through August 14.

A NEW KIND OF FIGHTING
Don
House
, a Las Vegas Resident and the owner of “House
of Champions” boxing gym in Las Vegas, is
changing the game. A few days ago in Las Vegas,
announced the launch of the
World Xtreme
Boxing Challenge.With it,
House
has changed the rules of the classic sport by
shortening the amount of rounds. With this, the
boxers do not have time to dance around the ring
for 7 or 8 rounds, creating time to read and
figure out your opponent. The boxer is forced to
fight it out in only five rounds. “You get down,
or you lay down,” says
House. There are no belts—just cash. There are no
politics, no favorites—just fighting. House
defined the difference between a fighter and a
boxer—a fighter remembers the passion of the
sport and is not blind-sighted by the fame, the
politics or the titles won.
WXBC
is bringing this sport worldwide with hopes in
expanding the tournament to Japan, Russia, St.
Martin and to his home base: Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fighters from around the world with at least 10
bouts under their belt are invited to be a part
of
WXBC. For our inaugural
tournament we have fighters from Russia, Mali,
Mexico, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, and U.S.A. The
overall winner will get the chance to fight in
country that they represent for the next month’s
tournament. These fighters are grateful that
House
has given them the ability to fight for their
country and to be given the opportunity to show
the world their true raw talent. Another aspect
to
WXBC that is unique to any other
fighting organization is their charity division,
Fighting For a Better World.
Fighting for a Better World
donates funds during each
World Xtreme
Boxing Challenge event to the
spotlighted charity or cause and seeks the
support of the community, sponsors and
advertisers via monetary contributions. We seek
out humanitarian causes and ways to affect
positive change in peoples’ lives and
communities across the country and worldwide. On
August
29, their inaugural event in
Des
Moines, Iowa will be benefiting
the families that have been affected by this
past month’s disastrous floods by donating funds
to the Des Moines Area Religious Council Food Pantries (DMARC)
and the
City of Des Moines Community Services Division.
Eco-friendly green t-shirts for
Fighting For a Better World will
be available at the different tournaments for
purchase. The inaugural tournament for
XBC
in
Des Moines, IA on
August 29, 2008 will now be
broadcasted live on
FOX Sports
nationwide. Fans from all over the country will
now be able to tune in and watch this new face
of boxing. The launch of
WXBC and announced the fighters who will participate in
the inaugural tournament on
August 29,
2008 at the
Wells Fargo
Center in
Des Moines,
Iowa. While training one of his
fighters, a new concept on boxing was conceived.
House
realized that there was a defeatist mentality in
several of today’s professional boxers—he needed
to find another way to inspire his boxers. The
losers of each fight are just handsomely
rewarded as the winners are. What are they
fighting for? Is this sport all about money or
about the art of the sport? House has helped
mold the careers of boxers and UFC fighters such
as
Diego Corrales, Freddy Norwood, Chuck Lidell,
Tito Ortiz and many more.
WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS

The Strip sizzled on Tuesday night as
Paris Hilton
swung by some of her favorite Sin City spots to
celebrate the launch the new line of Paris
Hilton Footwear. Looking stunning in a sparking
baby pink gown, Hilton started off her night in
style at exquisite eatery Social House where she
and a large group of friends savored fresh
sashimi and shots of chilled Grey Goose.
Afterwards, the party moved to PURE Nightclub
where Hilton made a grand entrance to her single
"Stars Are Blind." With microphone in hand, the
blonde beauty sang along to her song and then
serenaded the excited crowd with her own
rendition of Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm
Sexy" before heading to her chic VIP spot on the
club's main stage. After getting settled, the
starlet stopped by the DJ booth to give a shout
out to friends of hers celebrating their
birthdays, then wished a "happy birthday to
anybody else at PURE celebrating their
birthday," provoking loud cheers from the packed
house of partiers. Hilton then rejoined her
friends where she danced to the mega mix spun by
DJ Hollywood and made time to mingle with fans
and fellow celebrities who were among partiers,
including
Dennis Haskins
of Saved
By The Bell fame and
Computer
of
Adventures in Hollyhood.
Danger Mouse
of the Grammy-winning music duo Gnarls Barkley
was also spotted soaking in the scene of the
soiree at the sultriest night spot in Sin City.
