Introducing: The 3-K Poker Club
The first meeting of the 3-K Poker Club came to order on Sunday afternoon, August 17. We elected a president, Marsha, a VP and treasurer, Vera, a keeper of the clock, me, and a keeper of the points, Sassy. We discussed rules and regulations and future club meeting dates.

3-K Club
I have been a member of a 10-K Club and a 1-K Club. 10-K means $10,000 for a
seat in the World Series of Poker
main event, 1-K, one thousand for the buy-in for the ladies event and this year,
3-K in which two skillful/lucky players will win their seat in a $1,500 event at
the 2009 WSOP.

Our poker clubs meet once a month for ten months. In the 10-K Club we each
ponied up $150 for each game. With ten players, $100 went in the 10-K Club
account and at the end of 10 months or 10 games we had the $10,000 buy-in. The
other $50 each or $500 per game went to first, second, and third, $250, $150,
and $100. In this new club, it is $80 each, $30 to the club account and we play
for the $500. The club is a partnership between all 10 of us. If our winner(s)
make a score at the WSOP, they
win half and the club splits the other half. In the past, I have paid our
members over $500 each after a score in the ladies event in 2007 and our shero,
Brianna (our youngest member) paid each club members $2000 each a couple of
months ago.
Poker clubs are great fun but some organization is in order for everything to go
smoothly. I have in-depth details in my book
1000 Best Poker Strategies and Secrets, Chapter 10, pages
275-286, tips, 841-869. Talk about from chips to nuts, I even talk about
babysitters, theme parties, how to have a poker club in PoDunk, Kentucky, and
send your club champion to Las Vegas to play, representing their home poker club
in the WSOP. I even include a
structure sheet. 1000 Best is
available at any major bookstore, but for an autographed copy, please visit my
website:
http://www.susieisaacs.com/ where you will
see all of my books (and some other great poker stuff).
Back to the 10-K Club. Each player receives points as they are eliminated from
play, 1 point for the first player out on up to 10 points for the winner. I
managed 6 points which is not great but not terrible. After only one game, it
remains open season for the points and who our winners will be.
A special thanks to Vera and Marsha for organizing the 3-K Club.
Poker Clubs in general are fun and a WSOP
Poker Club is the NUTS!
On another subject: Do you know anyone suffering from dementia or
early-Alzheimer's disease? My friend, George "The Engineer" Epstein is
volunteering to teach poker to people with this problem in an experimental
program sponsored by Leeza's Place (established by celebrity Leeza Gibbons
throughout the U.S., to help these people and their caregivers). It is believed
that learning and playing the game of poker will provide the mental exercise and
stimulation to help delay -- and perhaps prevent -- the final stages of memory
loss. Phone George at 323/938-7023. We need to get the word out so these people
can benefit from the program.
