Kabbalah teaches that sharing in a way that encourages others to become beings of sharing is the highest form of sharing. And it has the biggest reward.
" ... he who leads his friends to meritorious conduct
benefits always from that conduct
and the benefit never leaves him."
- The Zohar
Today, don't obsess too much over the details of your life. Instead, find ways to obsess over helping friends and strangers. You'll find the more you do, the greater your joy will be.
A basic principle of Kabbalah is that like attracts like. When our thoughts are filled with love, caring, and the desire to share unconditionally, we attract similar souls. Like attracts like. But when our state of mind is governed by selfishness, anger, or intolerance, then the souls we attract can potentially be quite painful.
What’s on your mind today?
When loved ones and friends come to us with their problems, we think we need to fix them on the spot. However, with a little attentive listening, the answer often comes on its own.
Today, hold your tongue, and resist the compulsion to talk. Simply be a strong shoulder, an open ear, and a warm heart.
"Impatience and intolerance are our greatest enemies. Removing fragmentation from human experience requires abolishing hatred toward all those whose opinions are different from our own.
Hatred cannot come from the Light." Rav Berg, Days of Power Vol 1
The responsibility for stopping the killing and travesties of this world is in our hands. By taking small actions of caring, by stepping back from the brink of separation, our efforts will ripple out into the world, causing shifts far beyond our imagination.
Today, make peace with your enemies. Or as Abraham Lincoln said, "I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends."
It's raining here in Los Angeles. And it's freezing cold. I've been staring at this computer screen for 30 minutes not knowing what to write. I finally stood up to clear my head and I noticed a homeless man across the street seeking shelter under an awning. My heart broke for him, and is breaking still.
For me, when I feel this sadness for the world, [and I feel it daily], it lights a fire under me to get the words out, to inspire people to transform, to help my students choose giving over greed, to touch as many souls as I can.
We all have that God-given power. Let's use it today. Set aside a few minutes to meditate and send love into the world. The world turns [and burns] on a thought. Let's send some good ones out there that will help this man, and all the suffering people in the world.
"In kinesiology - muscle testing - you can show how the 99 % [thoughts] effect the 1 % [body.] Studies show when you think a positive thought, your muscles are stronger - literally stronger. When you think a negative thought, your muscles are weaker. This proves that what we do on an internal level relates directly to the body. We can actually strengthen ourselves doing what gives real pleasure - reading a good book or enjoying a good film by oneself.
But the greatest pleasures are those we share with others - like when we see the reaction on an impoverished child's face when we feed him or provide him with empowering wisdom. To participate in something like this is to know a really satisfying pleasure. This is a great example of areas where you generate more health and energy by being part of the lives of other human beings." - Karen Berg
Do something good for your health today - participate in someone's life in a meaningful, sharing way. It could be giving someone something physical like a gift or more importantly your care and patience.
What were you doing before
you opened this email? How was that action helping another person?
Heavy question. But if you truly understood what Kabbalah is about – accepting
the responsibility of being a channel of the Light – then you’d be thinking only
of how to share and care for others. If we’re here on Earth, it means somewhere
in a world far, far away, we signed a contract, we took an oath with the Light,
that we would do this job.
Truthfully, none of us are at this level. That’s why we need to remind one
another of what we really were born to do. Today is an opportunity to reaffirm
that oath that we made with the Light. We’ve been at this for lifetimes. We’re
not going to quit now.
