Mystic's PICKS

OK.. THESE are the correct picks for Week 9. Thank Goddess for Casey...he's the real brains on my team. Ahem... I'm going against the planetary alignment this week. The bright spot is that if the fans of our column have been picking opposite of my picks for the last two weeks, they'd be doing great for the year! Hey...I'm not always right (obviously).

Jacksonville -7½ over Cincinnati

Tampa Bay -8½ over Kansas City
And the upset game of the week

Green Bay +5½ over Tennessee

Casey's PICKS

OK, so I picked the Falcons over the Eagles and now I'm eating crow.

(Shssssh) It happens.

I shant beMona it anymore.

As for this week:

Tampa Bay - 8½ over Kansas City.

Someone has to avenge the Rays.  Tampa probably should have beaten Dallas, (at least I think so), and that will make the Chefs the object of Tampa's tantrum.  This shouldn't even be close.

Buffalo -5½ over the Jets.

Same deal.  Buffalo got its clock cleaned by the Dolphins.  I called it, but that doesn't make it right.  Da' Bills are da' best in that division and they're looking to put a hurt on the hapless, Favre-filled Jets

Denver -3 over Miami

This is my third installment in my "take it out on a terrible team" trifecta.

Actually, Miami is not that bad, but they're not in Denver's league.

The rest:  Minnesota, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay,  Baltimore, Buffalo, Arizona, Chicago, Tennessee, Denver, Atlanta, Giants, Philly, Indianapolis

The Tout's PICKS

The semi-professional and ”aw shucks, just for fun”, football prognosticators in the VCO Friday Flyer Football Forecast (The Beauties and The Beasts) collectively belong in a kennel………. We have gone, 10 wins and 14 losses the past two weekends, with not one of us above the .500 mark!

That, in-spite of Casey going 3 and 0, once……..

I was thinking that it can’t get any worse than this, but of course, it can….. Let’s think positive though and turn a .416 cumulative average, into a .715 average, at least……..

This pack of “mutts” better improve, big time, soon, or VCO honcho Marleen will ship the “lot of us" off to The Palookaville News-Call Bulletin………..

Hoping to avoid being cast out of town, I will try to do my part with

Tampa Bay  -8½   at   Kansas City

NY Jets  +5½   at   Buffalo

Atlanta  -3   at   Oakland

Am I a former, one season “flash in the pan”? Do I need to deliberate with the cosmos? Are my pigskin prognostication prowesses a thing of the past?

I think it is to early to “throw in the towel”…………….

After going 1 and 4, minus 11 stars last week end, (bringing the Star Picks, at the half way mark for the season to 18-19 minus 5 stars) I hope to make amends with these “nuggets”……………

These picks are rated from 1 to 5's with a point spread

Buccaneers –8½

at

Kansas City

Jets + 5½ at Bills
Falcons - 3 at Raiders
Ravens +1½ at Browns
Packers + 5½ at Titans
Eagles -7 vs. Seahawks
½ Steelers +2 at

Redskins (Mon. night)

Remember..   Its OK to vote as a liberal, but be conservative with your wagers, so that you may continue to live as an independent……

What’s up with this Tout anyway? I have to question whether our editor pays him by the word; its the only plausible explanation for his verbosity. I used to take an Ambien to help me sleep now I just reread his articles from the previous weeks and I'm out like a light. At any rate Marleen if more words = more dough its only right to let me in on the scam (LOL).

Due to a family tragedy this past week I have had more than my usual difficulty analyzing this Sunday's festivities. That being said here's my best shot albeit on insufficient study.

Browns -1½ Underrated team playing much better of late and always a factor at home. If they can overcome their coach taking care of Flacco and co. shouldn't be a problem.

Bills -5½ Should bounce back from last week's loss to the Dolphins in the friendly confines of chilly Buffalo. Jets should have lost at home last week to the woeful Chiefs. If they come up with a similar effort they WILL get blown out.

Cowboys +8½  I know, no QB, other key injuries up the wazzoo etc. but I just can't see giving this outfit more than a touchdown in this heated rivalry scenario. I'd be the first to acknowledge that they could be annihilated here but by the same token it wouldn't surprise me if they won straight up.
