Nevada Department of Business
& Industry Director Mendy Elliott today (February 12, 2008) announced the
appointment of Gordon Walker
as Administrator of the Taxicab Authority. The authority, which oversees the 16
taxicab companies operating in the Las Vegas valley, regulates taxicab fares in
addition to when and where taxis may operate.
Walker
has extensive experience as a professional government administrator and
manager. His 25-year work
history includes seven years
as Deputy Executive Director for the Nevada Department of Taxation, where he
enforced laws, conducted investigations, resolved complaints and issues and
worked cooperatively with a board of directors.
“Gordon has the experience and dedication needed to
ensure the Taxicab Authority meets its mandate of serving the riding public,”
said Director Elliott.
“I look forward to working with the agency’s board,
staff and constituents to support the regulatory and operational needs of the
taxi industry,” said Walker.
Walker begins his appointment
on Monday, February 25th.
