Way to Skateboard down LUXOR
Danny
Way
was spotted at
The Luxor
with engineers
developing a
ramp that would make it possible
for
Danny to skate board down the side of the Luxor
and jump the Sphynx in front..
In 1997 Danny broke the world record for the
highest air on a skateboard, did a 12-foot kick
flip, and became the first (and still only
skateboarder) to drop out of a helicopter into a
ramp. The Bomb Drop was born. Danny repeats the
Bomb Drop in 1999 with a dislocated shoulder for
MTV's Sports and Music Festival. Despite his
injury he stays on to compete and win in the
high air contest. In 2002 after
numerous
reconstructive surgeries Danny conceives the
idea of the first Megaramp. Danny to sets a new
Longest Distance Jumped record of 65 feet and a
new Height Out Of A Ramp record at 18 feet, 3
inches. The second version of the Megaramp is
built in 2003 at Point X Camp. Danny breaks two
world records in one run. -Longest Distance
Jumped at 75 feet and Height Out Of A Ramp
(Backside Air) at 23.5 feet. June 19th, On July
9, 2005 Danny becomes the first person to jump
the Great Wall of China on a skateboard . In
2005 Barely able to walk, Danny wins his second
Big Air Gold Medal at X Games XI. Almost a year
later in April of
2006 Danny
drops 82 feet from the top of the guitar over
the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas and
takes Bomb Drop record to 24 feet. Now he is
back in Las Vegas trying something new.
