Hoop Time

The "Positive ROI 5" team went 7-3 SU and a not so tolerable 5-5 ATS this past week. Butler, Drake, New Mexico, Louisville and Davidson finish their regular season this next week, then begin their conference finals the following week. For the season so far, the "Pos 5" are 92-36 SU and 68-42 ATS 62%

Louisville's two wins this past week made them victors in 9 of their last 11 games. They are also 4-0 since I chose them to replace UMass two weeks ago. In their last 10 games, the Cardinals are 7-2 SU and 8-2 ATS...........

Coach Pitino appears to have them ready for a deep tournament run, with the return of star forward David Padgett 5 games ago. I look for Louisville to be "Sweet 16" material, if not "Final 4" bound...............

The 22-6 Davidson Wildcats, going into the final regular season game against Georgia Southern, have won 18 in a row and of course will get a top seed in their conference (Southern) finals. They will be looking at a middle seed in the NCAA tourney. come March 16th.   My sleeper "Sweet 16" team?

Butler at 26-3 this past week, lost just the second game in their last 20 , to another "Pos 5" team, Drake............ sorta like (for VCO's Hoops faithful anyway) "kissing your sister"

Butler will also be a top seed in their conference (Horizon) finals and a high seed in the "big dance" next month. I stand by my prediction of early in the season, that the "Little Team That Could" will advance deep into the NCAA tourney (Final Four?...........)

New Mexico, 22-7 lost in overtime to Mountain West leader BYU, after winning another closegame vs. Utah. Two nail biters after coming out on top in the prior 5 games by 40,45,10,16 and 13 points.............I see the Lobos, getting revenge for an earlier loss to UNLV this coming Tues. at "The Pitt", were they are 16-2 this season, then finish up vs. Colorado St, before the conference finals and an invite to "March Madness"........ which brings us to our other "Pos 5" Bulldogs, the 13th ranked, 24-4 Drake Bulldogs. Drake, led by sr guard Adam Emmenecker and sr. forward Bret Hemskerk, stand alone, at the top of the Missouri Valley Conference. The "Dogs" have one more season game remaining, against Wichita St., before their finals and heading down the road to a middle seed in the NCAAs.....

Keep firing on the "Pos ROI 5" and I'll see you next week with my take on the conference finals............
