Debbie Hall
The 1st Annual Emerald Dream Ball

On New Year’s Eve, Fashion Designer Lana Fuchs and the Emerald Dream Team hosted an unforgettable evening, filled with music, entertainment, celebrities, and fine cuisine at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The red-carpet, black-tie extravaganza paid tribute to 13 carefully selected breast-cancer survivors chosen from a nationwide search. Co-hosted by Frank Marino, The Emerald Dream Ball with a 15 course dinner and live entertainment show honored these 13 women for their courage and inspiration.

Celebrities in attendance included Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills 90210, Dancing w/ Stars), Omarosa (Celebrity Apprentice), Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie), Alison Sweeney (Days of Our Lives/Biggest Loser),  Cris Judd (Choreographer), William Romeo (American Gladiators-MAYHEM), and Eye On Vegas Michael Politz.

The one-hour theatrical production of The Emerald Dream expressed emotions entirely through music, dance, acrobatics, flight and fashion, and explored dreams, fantasies and secret desires. While displaying the stunning fashion designs of Lana Fuchs Couture, men and women met in a dance of lust and love, where the simple sight of a woman clad in a caftan and red heels can transform a dancer into seductress, while primordial beings and mythical creatures erased the line between stage and audience, dancing among the attendees.

The Emerald Dream included an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas, Nevada for a week of fabulous fun, glamour and luxury for the 13 women chosen. During their week long stay in Las Vegas the women received complete makeovers, a new wardrobe with custom evening gowns made especially for them, and much more. During the Ball, the winners were given the opportunity to model Lana Fuchs’ creations and perform alongside the professional artists and entertainers in The Emerald Dream theatrical production.  According to Lana Fuchs, “It is one thing to change the way a woman looks on the outside but it's quite another to help her change the way she feels on the inside, and that is what we hope to accomplish with these 13 women during the time we have with them."

Motivated by Fuchs’ personal scare with cancer, The Emerald Dream Team was created.  In fact, breast cancer touches all of our lives in some way. Most, if not all of us, have someone close that has been diagnosed with this deadly disease; a spouse, friend, family member or co-worker. According to the World Health Organization, there are approximately 2.3 million American women who currently have been diagnosed with breast cancer. One in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.  Fuchs said, “These women are the unseen everyday heroes who do so much for so many, all while fighting for their own survival. While indulgences from the Emerald Dream Ball may not cure the disease, they will certainly go a long way in making these women feel better about themselves.”

A full-length documentary about The Emerald Dream Ball is in the works, detailing the entire process; from the selection-process of the 13 applicants to the inner workings of the event itself. The Emerald Dream goal is to help put the realities of this illness aside, if just for a week, while providing the opportunity for these selected survivors to live life to the fullest and to experience the ultimate pampering, glamour, fashion and fun.

Emerald Dream Ball’s title sponsors include: Lana & Victor Fuchs, 7 Samurai Vodka, Goldilocks Salon & Day Spa, and Neal Winard of Too Many Amps.
