Hoop Time

Well, the hoops did not fare much better than the NFL Playoffs *see "Football Forecast" in "The Friday Flyer" The "Positive ROI 5" went 4-3-1 SU and 4-4 ATS this past week.

Led by the 14th ranked Butler Bulldogs (15-1), the Drake Bulldogs (no relation) the New Mexico Lobos, the Minuteman of Massachusetts and the Virginia Cavaliers the "5" are 56-14-1 SU and 41-16 ATS.........

Butler, with the play of senior guards A J Graves and Mike Green have not slowed down from a stellar 29 victory season in 2006-07. They again look for another NCAA run that brought them to the "Sweet 16" last March...............

New Mexico led by steady senior guard  J R Giddens stands at 14-2, which included two overtime wins on the road this past week...............

The 13-1 Drake Bulldogs (13-1) are beating their opponents by an average of 18 points a game............... and are playing better than any of the "Positive ROI 5" since  becoming one of the "replacement teams a couple of weeks ago.

UMass (11-4), the other replacement team, has lost two in a row to teams that shot, are you ready for this? 19 for 37 from 3-point land................ That's tough to overcome. I look for the Minutemen to rebound against Dayton in their only game next week.  Wed the 16th

Which brings us to the 10-3 Cavs. which were blown out by another team (Xavier) that shot lights out from behind the 3 point line, in fact even better than UMass's last two opponents. Xavier went 16 for 26 on their long range bombs...... They had 3 guys come off the bench that shot an unbelievable 11 for 15 (that's not a typo.)

3 pointers.......... That game was on the 3rd, which gives them 10 days to get ready for  OUCH, Duke

There are 8 plays next week (11th thru the 17th)   good luck........

Hoping for “Nothing but net” till next week……
