Hello to all my Nevada friends (I lived in Vegas from 1983 - 1994.) I am writing you from Michigan, a state that is being punished by the Democratic National Committee for having the audacity to break party rules by scheduling its polling for January 15, and I cannot vote for my candidate of choice because he is not on the ballot. Nevada made a wise decision to have an early primary, and play a large role in the nomination process. I wish I were back in your state to work for my candidate, but will do the best that I can.
I am writing this article right after the Iowa caucus. The theme of this caucus was change, with every Democratic candidate trying to pose as a vehicle for it. Let’s take a closer look at who can do it best.
If you want a candidate who is going to be technically competent, instead of a bumbler like our current president, we Dems are fortunate to have three fine top-tier candidates, all up to the job. If your main desire is for a change in gender, you of course know where to go. But if, like me, you aspire to a more sweeping change in our country, here is where we need it.
v We need a change from the big money lobbyists being able to serve their special interests so well.
v We need a change to a person who will change the tone of politics away from the fierce partisan bickering that produces gridlock on many important issues.
v We need a change in how the rest of the world views the United States of America.
v We need a leader who is so inspiring that those hardened TV newscasters covering his victory speech in Iowa had to fight hard to stop their eyes from tearing, because they knew they were watching a major turning point in the history of America.
The man holding the new broom sweeps clean; the lady holding the old broom does not.
Our country needs Barack Obama
