FERGIE LEADS ALL-STAR ROCKER TURNOUT FOR SLASH’S BIRTHDAY BASH

Former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses celebrated his 43rd birthday last night (WED) with an all-star lineup of rockers led by the reigning “Dutchess,” Fergie!  The unforgettable night featured a 90-minute concert with Slash himself joined by Fergie, her Black Eyed Peas partner Will I. Am, Perry Farrell of Janes Addiction, ZZ Top legend Billy Gibbons, Spacehog’s Royston Langdon, Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains and even singing-ventriloquist Terry Fator!

The once-in-a-lifetime show at the Bare adult-alternative pool at The Mirage was highlighted with the official birthday cake presentation by Slash’s wife Perla Hudson. Created by the Jean-Philippe Patisserie it was a larger than life guitar topped with the rocker’s trademark top hat! The celebration continued on until pre-dawn this morning at the nearby Revolution Lounge and tonight (THURS) it will rock on again when Slash parties at the Jet nightclub in The Mirage performing a special acoustic set with Will I. Am as guest DJ.

Here’s Luxe Life’s first photos from the celebration and next week we will have a special photo album of the entire 48 hours of festive fun.

SIEGFRIED & ROY WELCOME “STAR” AND “CELESTIAL” TO THE FAMILY

Incredible illusionists Siegfried & Roy welcomed their beautiful new baby white-striped tiger cubs just a few weeks ago, click here for Luxe Life’s incredible close-up coverage. At the time they promised our Clark County school children the unique opportunity to name some of them. Our Luxe Life photographer Scott Doctor was at their Secret Garden in The Mirage yesterday (WED) when they held the naming ceremony.

Students from over 60 school classes took part in the contest. Siegfried & Roy personally selected Star as the first winning name. Celestial was chosen as the second winning name from the list submitted by Mirage hotel guests and visitors, Jackie Topacio from Cerritos, CA and Lori Diaz from Ocoee, Florida. From our photographer’s lens easy to see that Celestial is the quieter one of the two, happily sucking on its milk bottle the entire time. But Star lived up to a diva’s reputation with some unfriendly fidgeting and the occasional snarl as if everybody around was a candidate for lunch!

Roy said, “It’s great to be able to combine children’s enthusiasm with the spirit that our magnificent creatures possess. It’s vital to continue educating a new generation needed to care for our planet’s animals.”

Both tiger cubs were born on April 29 and are now in residence at Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden. Star and Celestial are joined by their golden brother, Svengali, and their sisters Shacrat and Cosmo.

Roy told me that he’d previously named his own favorite cub Shacrat, the one he spends the most time with. He said, “Shacrat” is the translation of “center core,” which explained the state of his strength, his will, his determination and well-being. “It comes right from the center of my being,” he said, and even wrote the name down to ensure I got the spelling correct! He admitted, “She is the best rehab for me.” Siegfried added, “You can describe her as a precious princess because it’s definitely Daddy’s little girl.”

FIRST TIME VEGAS CAR AUCTION SET TO HAUL IN MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND VIEWERS!

It’s now definite that collector-car aficionados from around the world will descend on Vegas for Barrett- Jackson’s first-ever auction here on Oct. 15 through Oct. 18 at Mandalay Bay, as was first revealed in Luxe Life. At two earlier events this year in Scottsdale, Arizona and West Palm Beach, Florida, Barrett-Jackson wooed more than 340,000 fans who shelled out over $110 million to “ buy the 1,672 beauties,” and they’re expecting it to be a bigger and better bonanza here in Sin City!

“We always believed that adding Vegas was a natural step in our evolution,” said Craig Jackson, chairman of Barrett-Jackson, confirming our earlier Luxe Life exclusive. “We’re looking forward to bringing our high-octane excitement brand to the Strip. Our two auctions this year were completed very successfully and we have already received an overwhelming response for the Vegas auction. Every vehicle will be offered at “no reserve,” which will ensure an accurate, honest marketplace for our customers.” The policy means that every vehicle that crosses the auction block will be sold to the highest bidder.

With Vegas now definitely added as the third jewel in a triple-crown series, Craig says its all unmatched in the collector car world. Millions of TV viewers around the world will be able to watch the action, and participate simultaneously via the Internet, thanks to round the clock hi-def coverage by the Speed cable TV network. Barrett-Jackson, who has presented the “World’s Greatest Collector Car Events” in Arizona for the past 37 years, claims proudly that the initial Vegas auction will have an extraordinary lineup of vehicles to appeal to both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers.

The debut 2008 Vegas event kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 15 with a live entertainment party on the Mandalay Bay Beach to benefit our local Lili Claire Foundation that enhances the lives of children living with Williams Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Autism and other neurogenetic disorders. Numerous Hollywood and Vegas celebrities along with pop-world rockers have supported this charity previously at the annual fundraising dinner and concert also held at Mandalay Bay. A high performance muscle-car, a 2008 Edition Ford Shelby GT Mustang (one of only 100 ever built), will be auctioned on opening night with all proceeds from the sale being donated to Lili Claire.

Auction bidding will proceed over all three days, but interspersed with other lifestyle attractions including auto-memorabilia displays, car vendors and a garage venue of live music. Luxe Life will continue to post up-to-the minute developments about the auctions, its VIP and celebrity visitors and the entertainment acts as we get closer to the actual dates, but better book your hotel rooms now because Vegas will be packed to the rafters for this unique affair.

Mandalay president, Bill Hornbuckle commented, “This represents the gold standard in classic car auctions with an exhilarating mix of vintage vehicles, high energy crowds, thrilling bidding, and the energy and excitement of Mandalay Bay and Las Vegas are the perfect complement to this highly-anticipated event.”
