2008 Democratic Primary Endorsements

The Nevada Primary Early Voting begins Saturday, July 26th and runs two full weeks through Friday, August 8th with the final day to cast your ballot and vote on Primary Election Day, Tuesday, August 12th  - remember voting early will help bring and end to those pestering political phone calls!  Once you tell them you’ve voted, and they check the voting rolls and determine that you have, in fact, voted – they won’t be bothering you again until the next election cycle – so, be smart, vote smartvote early!

Partisan Elected Positions:

It is with great enthusiasm and joy that I whole-hearted endorse “The Three Amiga’s”

Congressional District #1 - Shelley Berkley – Congresswoman Berkley has earned the respect of nearly everyone as evidenced by her widely popular reputation and landslide victories – and Shelley the highest rating from both the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) – absolutely impeccable credentials!

Congressional District #2 - Jill Derby – Challenger Derby is a fourth generation Nevada.  Her father is an Air Force Veteran and she is staunch supporter of our military, veterans and military families.  Jill has a solid academic background, with a bachelor’s, masters and PhD in anthropology – she understands the vast value of diversity in democracy and that will represent all of the citizens of Nevada CD-02 equally.  Let’s be real, it’s quite obvious the current incumbent only represents his wealthy campaign contributors and private donors – and he’s not done much other than prove he’s typically mediocre! www.jillderby.com

Congressional District #3 - Dina Titus – Challenger Titus is the epitome of a citizen and stateswoman!  She is down-to-earth, easily approachable, always well informed, candid open, honest, hard-working and ethically solid – Dina can debate with best and knows how to fight-the-good-fight!  She’s conservative on the environment, moderate on most issues and liberal on personal freedoms and civil liberties – we couldn’t ask for more!  The incumbent has proven he only cares about his wealthy donors, has voted against the needs of our military, veterans and military families and has been a Bush “bag-boy” and “political puppet” for the wealthy and powerful – it’s time to soundly vote this bum out! www.dinatitus.com

County Commission District C – Current City Councilman Larry Brown is running to fill the seat being vacated by Chip Maxfield.  I’ve watched and listened closely to Larry Brown (over his tenure as a City Councilman) and he has an open heart, critically acute mind and is absolutely thorough and fair in his analysis on the issues.  Larry Brown is a solid, highly ethical citizen-representative and an impressive guy in everyway!

Non-Partisan Elected Positions:

This year, for the first time, I’m putting out my public picks for legislative positions.  I’m doing this to emphasize how critically important our legislative branch of government is especially, at this sad time when we can’t trust the President and Congress is grid-locked!

Nevada Supreme Court:

Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court, Seat BNancy Lee Allf is a highly experienced attorney with a solid decade of experience.  She’s from a military family, and comes to this race with an extensive and impressive list of endorsements.  I’ve met Nancy and she is clearly a committed, strong supporter of the Constitution and active advocate of our 2nd Amendment Rights!  In short, I really liked everything about this lady lawyer / candidate, I was very impressed – we need her on the “big bench” to ensure justice for all Nevadans. www.nancyallf.com

So, how is it when all of us are so busy, that we actually have the time to determine who all these other people are on the ballot and who’s the best candidate to vote for?  I do it first and foremost by noting which candidates have sought out my endorsement and let me grill them on their background and the issues of the day – most do not pass this test!  Then, I watch who actually shows up at the wide range of political “meet & greet” events (and cross off those who don’t show up and think they can win on a wing and a prayer by “mailing it in”) as they say.  Finally, after getting my curiosity satiated, I make my final decision by just calling trusted friends in the legal and academic communities and taking their advice!  What the heck more can a citizen doing our due diligence - DO?  So here are my “non-partisan” picks…

Trustee, Clark County School District E:
