The North Las Vegas Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services is joining
with the North Valley Leadership Group to conduct a clean-up day in the
College Heights neighborhood starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 21. The
College Heights neighborhood is bordered by
Balzar Avenue to the north and
west, Lake Mead Boulevard to the south, and Comstock Drive to the east. As
part of the clean-up day, residents are encouraged to tidy up their homes
and yards by disposing of any unwanted items. Following the clean-up will
be a block party featuring food and fun from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents of the College Heights neighborhood may discard unwanted items, including large items such as refrigerators and furniture, by placing the items on the curb in front of their homes by 8 a.m. on June 21. Hazardous items, such as car batteries and paint, may also be discarded, but they must be placed individually on the curb or in a separately marked bag. Republic Services is partnering with the Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services to provide the garbage pick-up on the day of the clean-up to all College Heights residents, even those who are not Republic Services customers.
The block party following the clean-up will begin at 11 a.m. Hamburgers,
hot dogs, and dessert will be served. All neighborhood residents are
invited to join in the festivities.
Participating in the clean-up day are Judge Sean Hoeffgen, community service workers, and City of North Las Vegas staff members from the Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services and the Police Department. Volunteers will assist residents in moving items located outside the home to the curb for disposal from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Residents requiring assistance in moving items should contact the Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services prior to the day of the clean-up.
This event is part of an ongoing revitalization of the North Valley Community. For additional information, contact the Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services at 633-1532.
