LCC HEART Mentoring Team

You as a community leader can positively impact an “at risk” student by being a role model.  As a community leader, you are busy, driven, motivated and informed.  Because of your life experiences you can help direct a student who may be teeter between not succeeding in school or graduating with a good grade point average and pursuing higher learning.

Many students in Clark County have a limited view of the careers or jobs that are available to them because of their socioeconomic situation.  You can change that.  There are mentoring opportunities available at whatever time commitment you can accommodate.

The students of Clark County need you as a volunteer mentor for the following opportunities.

Please review the mentoring opportunities and let us know what you are interested in:

I would like to take part in Career Day presentations where I can speak to students for 30 minutes regarding my profession at either the elementary, middle school or high school level.

I would like to take part in the Career Club at Martinez Elementary School where I can organize an interactive activity with students in an effort to expose them to my profession.

I would like to take part in Nevada Reading Week where I can read a book for 30 minutes to elementary school students in an effort to encourage reading.

English Reader  or Spanish Reader

I would like to mentor an “at risk” middle school student weekly throughout the entire school year and help them develop better reading and math skills in an effort to improve their proficiency scores. This one’s for mentors that really want to roll up their sleeves and stretch themselves just a little bit more.

I would like to take part in an internship program where I would take in a college student under my wing and expose him/her to my profession as an intern and groom him/her for future career opportunities.

Please visit HERE to register as a mentor and join our team.
