Weapon of Mass Distortion Aimed at Obama

This posting reveals another politically distorted email.

As the political season continues, the false emails keep coming. This latest one is directed at Barack Obama.

The culprit is either a religious extremist or someone who knows how to rile the stupidly religious. The email begins:

Please vote. According to The Book of Revelations: The anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal….the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in  power, will destroy everything.

So, were supposed to base our vote on a piece of ancient literature? Scripture was written more than 1500 years ago. The words were translated into a number of languages, leaving interpretation to a single person or a selected group of people.

Furthermore, enough linguists and anthropologists say the writings about Jesus happened two to three centuries after his death – not when he lived.

If you believe this literal interpretation, then you would also allow the Taliban to chop off hands for stealing or kill women who don’t submit to their husbands.

The email then makes the connection to Obama.

This goes right along with what people are saying about Obama. “He is a great speaker.” He can go on for hours and say nothing with any sustenance which makes him a true politician.

Sustenance?  How about substance?  Now for the big finale.

However, he said what he really means to do in this statement.

“My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.
I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”  (B. Obama)

If this doesn’t worry you…..forget that I even mentioned it.

I will forget it.  The reality: Obama certainly said that. But he said it while mimicking John McCain. Here’s a posting by Snopes. That line is a clear distortion of fact.

If you send this email out, you’re partially responsible for sending false information. If you believe this, then you are either very stupid or a religious extremist in the same vein as the Muslim extremists.

Either way, do the patriotic thing and please don’t vote.
