Launched in 1998 by an enthusiastic group of movie/art lovers, independent filmmakers and film industry veterans, the CineVegas Film Festival has evolved into an annual celebration of cinematic excellence and artistic risk-taking. The festival has come a long way from its humble, grassroots beginnings to the vibrant, star-studded, fun-filled event that takes place every year in June. Among the creative forces nurturing this growth are Trevor Groth, the Festival's artistic director, the Palms Casino Resort, and Dennis Hopper, Chair of the CineVegas Creative Advisory Board.

|
Sunday through Saturday March 16th –22nd |

The White Sands International Film Festival (http://www.wsiff.com) will show over 40 films in all genres of competitive narratives and documentaries that are feature and short length. In addition, two days of the festival will be devoted to Latino filmmakers and one day will be devoted to films made in New Mexico. The schedule page has the details.
Alamogordo is the
micro-politan center of the Tularosa Basin of Southern New Mexico. The small
town is surrounded by amazing natural landscapes such as White Sands, Sierra
Blanca Mountains, and the High Desert. The areas mild climate and pristine
views make Alamogordo a great city to hold a film festival, and an amazing
location to shoot a film!
There are many benefits of shooting films in New Mexico, and especially
Alamogordo, just a short drive to neighboring cities such as Las Cruces,
Tularosa, Cloudcroft, Ruidoso, and Roswell.
White Sands National Monument is 275 square miles of white sand dunes composed of gypsum crystals. This natural wonder has been the backdrop of many films and photographs over the years. White Sands symbolizes the basins rugged and natural beauty.
