EXCLUSIVE BREAKING NEWS: TONI BRAXTON’S RETURN SET BACK AGAIN! May 1st, 2008 Luxe Life has learned, exclusively, that singer Toni Braxton will not be returning to her Flamingo stage next Tuesday as originally hoped.

A new tentative target date of June 6 has now been set, but doctors may again caution Toni not to rush her needed rest, relaxation and recovery.

You will remember that she was rushed to hospital a month ago with serious chest pains arising from a previous heart condition. After the birth of her second child she experienced a dangerous medical situation where the walls of her heart were “dangerously thinned.”

At least one expert has told me that she might be better served skipping the remaining Flamingo dates and getting completely well again without risking another medical setback and emergency. Donny & Marie Osmond’s show starts there Sept. 9 and during the “height of the heat” summer months, tentative plans are in place for Morris Day and The Time and magician Nathan Burton to take some of the 8 p.m. primetime slots before George Walllace’s ongoing nightly shows. We all wish Toni a safe, healthy and speedy recovery.

A 50-YEAR HANDSHAKE DEAL BRINGS AN ALL STAR TURNOUT FOR THE JERSEY BOYS VEGAS PREMIERE May 1st, 2008 There’s an all-star turnout set for Saturday’s gala red carpet opening of the new The Jersey Boys musical at The Palazzo Resort with everybody from Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, Siegfried & Roy, Monty Python great John Cleese, superstar Billy Crystal, whiz record producer Bob Crew, Ugly Betty’s Michael Urie, Strip headliner comedienne Rita Rudner and maybe even disco-queen Donna Summer.

But it’s the poignant reunion of three special guys that will be worth watching. Actor Joe Pesci, who as a young New Jersey teenager, introduced Frankie Valli to record producer and songwriter Bob Gaudio. If that momentous meeting had never happened those decades ago its highly unlikely that Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons would have gone on to become one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. Incidentally the night will be even more special because, as hard as it is to believe, Frankie Valli will be celebrating his 74th birthday, and he’s still going strong, performing shows around the country and selling hit records!

They went onto invent their own special sound, writing their own songs and before they were 30 they’d sold 175 million records worldwide! Incredibly I knew them back in the Brill Music Building on Broadway in the mid 60’s when I published a weekly music newspaper for radio stations across America called GO Magazine. We featured them numerous times and told their Rocky like story of rags to riches rise to stardom from the very wrong side of the tracks.

Over the years their popularity was overtaken by different musical trends but bounced back every now and again and especially when the Jersey Boys first premiered on Broadway. The show brought back to life all those hits such as “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Cant Take My Eyes off of You” and “Oh What a Night.” Today they’re still selling better than most groups even dream of!

And all without a contract! Yes, it’s totally true! To this day the business partnership between Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons is still based on that first New Jersey handshake! Throughout the years they’ve remained close friends and you can now see the elements that propelled them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Display cases have been shipped from the museum and installed at the brand new 1,400 seat Palazzo theater showing their original music, their paper scribblings and even the slab of wet cement that Frank Sinatra signed on a rainy day at an unfinished pool of their New Jersey home.

The Vegas cast is made up of Rick Faugno as Frankie Vallli, Erich Bergen as Bob Gaudio, Jeremy Kushnier as Tommy DeVito and Jeff Leibow as Nick Massi. The show won Best Musical Tony Award and Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

On Monday we’ll not only have the full photo coverage of opening night and the red carpet stars but we’ve got a fascinating in-depth interview with Bob Gaudio who has spent the past three months in Vegas getting the show ready. “They are so good there are times I think they sound exactly like us,” he laughed.

AVRIL SPINS A WHEEL OF FORTUNE AFTER HER CONCERT May 1st, 2008 After playing at The Pearl in The Palms, Avril Lavigne had her official concert after party at Moon nightclub.

She arrived with an entourage of over 20 people and the members of her band Boys Like Girls, who opened her show. The group took the largest table at Moon nightclub next to the DJ booth and danced while doing shots.

They partied like the rock stars they are until 3 a.m. and Palms tycoon, George Maloof joined them for two of the late hours. She left with three gal pals and two bodyguards and went off to play roulette in the casino before calling it a night. Avril stuck to drinking Chardonnay throughout the night

Beatle George Harrison’s son, Dhani was with members of the Cirque du Soleil Love musical at the Playboy Club one floor below and he sipped Long Island Ice Teas for his hard-days night!

PARIS & BENJI ROMANCE HEATS UP AND MARRIAGE MAYBE IN THE CARDS May 1st, 2008 Reality star, actress, singer and fashion-entrepreneur Paris Hilton has admitted the romance that began here in Vegas over Valentines Day weekend with Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden is getting hotter and stronger.

So much so that when asked about a possible marriage, for the first time, she didn’t dodge the bullet.

“I don’t know yet but my life is a lot different. I’m very much at peace and I’m so happy and in control and excited about the future. He’s my best friend. He’s just different from any guy that I’ve ever been with. I just trust him completely and I know that he’d be there for me, no matter what,” she said.

Benji has even written Paris her very own love song. He went into a studio and recorded “Shine Your Light” and gave it to her as a gift to mark their 10-weeks of bliss. “It’s a really beautiful love song about me and it was the sweetest thing that anyone has ever done for me,” said Paris.

AMERICAN IDOL FINALISTS NEED “LOVE” FOR LAST CHALLENGES May 1st, 2008 There are now just four remaining American Idol finalists and they are all sweating the down to the wire heat. They get a chance to relax only for a moment as they head to Vegas on Saturday to take in Cirque du Soleil’s The Beatles Love musical. The fearsome four will arrive at The Mirage at 2 p.m. and set foot on a special red carpet at 4 p.m. They’d better pay close attention though to The Beatles songs and soundtracks because after they go backstage to meet the cast and crew, FOX network cameras will film them working out on the John Lennon and Paul McCartney favorites. Next Tuesday and Wednesday the Vegas video will be shown as the finalists demonstrate their Beatles’ music sound skills before one gets voted off and just three remain. One of those who come to Vegas will become a major star!
